One of the most emotional storylines in Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 revolves around a character fans have known from the very beginning of the franchise: Claire Fraser.
While the prequel focuses on the love stories of Jamie Fraser’s parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, and Claire’s parents, Henry and Julia Beauchamp, the new season continues exploring the devastating consequences of time travel for Claire’s family.

As teased in the latest trailers, both central couples will face separation in one form or another. For Julia and Henry, however, the pain extends beyond being apart from each other. They are also separated from their young daughter Claire, a loss that becomes even more difficult as Season 2 unfolds.
Speaking during a press roundtable, actress Hermione Corfield, who plays Julia Beauchamp, explained that her character enters the new season with hope that she will quickly find a way back home. But that optimism does not last long.
According to Corfield, once Julia realizes that returning to the stones may not be as simple as she expected, a heartbreaking truth begins to set in.
“In season one, she’s got real hope that they’re going to be able to work it out and get back to the stones, and it will be simple, and they’ll be home in no time,” Corfield said. “Once those hopes are dashed, the reality that she may never see her daughter again kicks in.”
The realization becomes one of the emotional driving forces behind Julia’s journey throughout Season 2. At the same time, she must also protect her infant son William, forcing her to balance grief, responsibility and survival.

Executive producer Maril Davis confirmed that Claire remains a central part of Julia and Henry’s storyline, even when she is not physically present on screen.
“The separation from Claire is integral to the story,” Davis explained.
Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts echoed that sentiment, emphasizing that the loss will continue to shape the couple moving forward.
“Julia and Henry will always carry that loss with them; that will always be part of who they are,” Roberts said. “We want to continually show that as we go throughout the series.”
The storyline adds another emotional layer to the Outlander mythology. Longtime fans know that in the original series, Claire Fraser was raised by her uncle after her parents reportedly died when she was young. However, Blood of My Blood continues to explore the untold story behind those events, giving viewers a deeper understanding of the sacrifices and heartbreak that helped shape Claire’s life long before she met Jamie Fraser.
With Julia and Henry facing increasingly difficult obstacles and the possibility of never reuniting with their daughter, Season 2 appears poised to deliver some of the most emotional moments in the prequel’s run so far.
