Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 is bringing its characters closer to the Jacobite Rising of 1715, and for Brian Fraser, that means proving himself to the people who once saw his family as an enemy.
The latest episode, “The Veil of Time,” put Brian Fraser, played by Jamie Roy, directly in the path of Clan MacKenzie. His goal was not only to find his beloved Ellen but also to begin building a relationship with her fiercely protective brother, Dougal.
Brian Faces Dougal in a Violent Confrontation
Brian sets out alongside his father, Lord Lovat, to gather men who can fight for Clan Fraser as the Jacobite conflict approaches. But after completing that task, he heads to Castle Leoch to check on Ellen and make sure she has not been harmed by her brothers.
With Murtagh at his side, Brian knows entering MacKenzie territory is dangerous. His fears quickly become reality when he comes face-to-face with Colum and Dougal.

Rather than backing down, Brian gets into a physical fight with Dougal. Although the confrontation is brutal, it also gives Dougal a chance to see that Brian is willing to stand his ground and fight for what matters to him.
Once the two men separate, Brian makes an even bigger statement. He promises to bring 100 men to support the Jacobite cause.
That pledge catches Dougal’s attention and earns Brian permission to remain at Castle Leoch during the celebrations.
Jamie Roy Says Dougal Is Starting to See Brian Differently
According to Jamie Roy, the tension between the Frasers and MacKenzies initially makes it difficult for Dougal to judge Brian as an individual.
“A lot of McKenzies think of the Frasers in kind of like a blanket way,” Roy explained. “They think everyone’s just like Lord Lovat.”
But Brian gradually begins to challenge that perception.
“Once Dougal starts to see Brian’s actually a good guy, I think there’s some sort of respect that’s just kind of simmering under the surface,” Roy said.

That growing respect could become particularly important as Brian and Dougal find themselves fighting on the same side.
War Could Change Their Relationship
Roy hinted that Brian and Dougal’s relationship will develop significantly as Season 2 continues.
The two men will eventually go into war together, something Roy believes could create a much deeper bond between them.
“And then they go into war together, and I think that bonds people quite deeply,” the actor teased.
But their shared experiences will not be the only thing changing their relationship. Roy also revealed that another major development later in the season could push Dougal even closer to Brian.
“There’s something else that happens later on in the season which I won’t spoil, but that definitely makes Dougal, dare I say, a fan of Brian?” Roy said. “Maybe he wouldn’t agree, but you know, I like to think so, of course.”
Can Brian Win Over the MacKenzie Family?

Brian’s growing connection with Dougal could prove crucial as his romance with Ellen continues to face opposition from her family.
For now, the promise of 100 men for the Jacobite cause has given Brian a small opening with the MacKenzies. Whether that developing respect will be enough to overcome the family’s concerns about Ellen’s relationship with a Fraser remains to be seen.
As Outlander: Blood of My Blood moves closer to the Jacobite Rising, Brian may have to prove himself not only as a Fraser but also as a man Dougal can trust.
