The Voice coach Reba McEntire reveals the sweet way Snoop Dogg comforts her whenever she breaks down on the show

Reba McEntire has shared a heartwarming story about her friendship with Snoop Dogg on The Voice, revealing how the rapper always came to her rescue whenever a performance brought her to tears.

During an October 21 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the country music star looked back on her time as a coach on the singing competition and explained why music often made her emotional. McEntire and Snoop worked together during Seasons 26 and 28, building a friendship filled with both heartfelt moments and playful exchanges.

When Hudson asked what McEntire would do whenever an artist delivered a performance she loved, the singer admitted that she could not always hold back her emotions.

“I cry, I get so emotional,” McEntire explained. “Music just touches my heart so much, so when somebody would do something that touched my heart, I would just start crying.”

Fortunately, she had Snoop by her side to help her through those moments.

“Snoop would bring me a Kleenex, and I would just sit there,” McEntire recalled.

The small gesture reflected the warm bond between the two coaches, who appeared together on the show for two seasons. Although McEntire is known as the Queen of Country, she was never afraid to show her softer side when an artist delivered a performance that touched her heart.

One of their most memorable emotional moments came during Season 28, when contestant Aubrey Nicole performed Martina McBride’s song I’m Gonna Love You Through It. The moving ballad tells the story of a husband supporting his wife through cancer treatment, and Nicole dedicated her performance to her father, who had battled the disease.

The performance deeply affected both coaches. Snoop revealed that he had never heard the song before but immediately connected with its message because he had lost several family members to cancer.

“Aubrey, what’s crazy is, I’ve never heard that song before, but I’ve lost so many people in my family from cancer so it was like, you hit me, you hit me in the heart, and that’s what music is supposed to do,” he said.

As he spoke, Snoop handed McEntire a packet of tissues. The country star thanked him before sharing her own painful experience with cancer.

“Martina’s a good friend of mine. I lost my oldest son because he did not win with cancer,” McEntire said. She explained that the performance reminded her how music can help people remember loved ones and find comfort in the people who remain by their side.

Just as the moment became increasingly emotional, Snoop brought his trademark humor into the conversation with a playful request.

“Reba, I need my tissue back!” he joked.

The exchange offered a glimpse of the friendship that made their time together on The Voice memorable. Snoop could be a source of comfort when McEntire needed it, but he also knew how to lighten the mood when emotions ran high.

Looking back on her experience as a coach, McEntire kept her summary simple when Hudson praised her work on the show.

“I had fun doing it,” she said.

McEntire’s appearance also reunited two former The Voice coaches for a conversation about their careers and experiences on the competition. Hudson coached during Seasons 13 and 15, while McEntire joined the show for Seasons 24, 25, 26 and 28. The Voice is currently airing its 30th season, with new episodes on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and streaming the following day on Peacock.
