Prince William is reportedly choosing to stay out of the growing wave of Princess Diana tribute projects ahead of the 30th anniversary of her death.
The Prince of Wales has allegedly turned down several requests to appear in or help produce documentaries about his late mother, who died in a Paris car crash in 1997.

According to The Sunday Times, the upcoming anniversary is expected to be a particularly emotional period for William. The report claims he remains deeply affected by Diana’s death and has decided not to revisit the painful chapter through new documentary projects.
William’s decision is also reportedly linked to his complicated relationship with his younger brother, Prince Harry.

Harry is said to be in talks with Netflix about a possible film honoring Diana as the 30th anniversary of her death approaches. That has reportedly made William even more cautious about taking part in projects focused on their mother.
Rather than joining a documentary, William is said to be considering other ways to honor Diana and preserve her legacy.

A source told The Telegraph that William has discussed the anniversary with friends and members of his mother’s family and is still considering what would be the most meaningful way to remember her.
The different approaches taken by the two brothers have already drawn attention.
Royal editor Camilla Tominey said on Today that there appears to be a clear contrast between Harry wanting to speak about Diana’s legacy and William being more reluctant to revisit the past publicly.

“There’s one brother who wants to speak out about his mother’s legacy, and the other brother saying he wishes her memory was laid to rest,” Tominey said.
The issue comes as Diana’s family history is also back in the spotlight following the release of Charles Spencer’s memoir, Swan Song: My Sister Diana.
Diana’s younger brother, the Earl Spencer, discusses his memories of her life and death in the book, as well as his conversations with King Charles.
The memoir has already caused controversy and even prompted a rare response from Buckingham Palace.

William has not publicly commented on the book. Tominey suggested that he may not be comfortable with his uncle revisiting such sensitive family history.
And with Harry reportedly exploring his own Diana project, the royal family could once again face difficult questions about how the brothers want their mother’s story to be remembered.
For now, William appears to be keeping his distance from the documentary spotlight while deciding how he wants to mark Diana’s 30th anniversary.
