Lady A brought a playful touch to the CMA’s Dolly Parton tribute special with a performance of Islands in the Stream, the beloved duet made famous by Parton and Kenny Rogers.

The country trio took the stage during CMA Presents I Will Always Love You: A Celebration of Dolly Parton on October 21. CMA Chief Executive Officer Sarah Trahern explained why honoring Parton was so important to the country music community.

“Dolly Parton belonged to the whole world, but she was born of this industry, and this industry owes her a debt of gratitude that words alone cannot repay,” Trahern said.

She added that the tribute was a way to thank Parton on behalf of the artists, industry professionals, and fans who had found a personal connection through her music.
