Riley Green is facing questions from The Voice fans after choosing Keiyana Osmond over Brendan Coulter in a Battle featuring Maroon 5’s hit She Will Be Loved. Both contestants delivered strong performances, but Green’s decision has viewers debating whether he picked the right singer to advance.

Tuesday night’s episode on October 13 marked the second round of Battles on Season 30. Green first made headlines on Monday by pairing two of his standout vocalists for a performance of his Ella Langley duet, Don’t Mind If I Do. The matchup drew attention amid the recent drama surrounding Green and Langley, making the Battle even more interesting for viewers following the coaches and contestants.

Green then paired 27-year-old Brendan Coulter and 32-year-old Keiyana Osmond for She Will Be Loved, the early-2000s hit by Maroon 5. The song offered a fun moment for fellow coach Adam Levine, the band’s frontman, as he watched two members of Green’s team perform one of Maroon 5’s best-known songs.
The familiar track may have taken some viewers back to the 2000s, but Brendan and Keiyana both proved they could handle the challenge. Performing in front of Levine added another layer of pressure, yet neither singer seemed out of place on the song.
Their performances impressed viewers, but the result quickly divided fans online. Before announcing his decision, Green joked with Levine about his age and teased him about supposedly writing the song with a quill pen. He then turned his attention to the two singers and shared what stood out to him about each performance.
Green called Brendan “flawless,” praising his polished vocals. However, he saw something special in Keiyana, telling her, “There’s something so interesting about you.”

In the end, Keiyana’s distinctive style was enough to give her the win. She advanced to the next round, while Brendan’s journey on Season 30 came to an end. Green’s decision has since prompted fans to question whether he made the right call, especially after acknowledging how flawless Brendan’s performance was.
Although Brendan is no longer competing for the Season 30 title, he has already built a devoted fan base. His performance also showed how well his voice could fit a Maroon 5 cover band. And even without a win on the show, he may still have a promising future in music.
Keiyana’s victory, meanwhile, highlights Green’s willingness to take a chance on different musical styles. Her R&B potential brings variety to Team Riley and shows that the country singer is capable of coaching artists beyond the country genre.
Fans can watch more Battle decisions unfold when The Voice returns Monday, October 19, on NBC. Green, Levine, Kelly Clarkson and Queen Latifah will continue pairing their artists and deciding who deserves a chance to move forward in the competition.
