Camp Rock 3 may have put friendship at the center of its story, but director Veronica Rodriguez is already imagining a more romance-focused future for the characters in a potential Camp Rock 4.
Speaking to Swooon, Rodriguez explained that the third installment intentionally focused on the friendship between the film’s central group of young campers.
“I think this movie needed to be friendship-focused, mostly because of the overall plot.”
She described the film as Camp Rock with a touch of The Breakfast Club, emphasizing the chemistry among the “final five” rather than separating the characters into individual storylines.

However, Rodriguez admitted that romance remains an important part of the characters’ lives. She pointed to several relationships that could develop further, including Fletch and Sage, as well as more subtle connections between Desi and Callie and Rosie and Cliff.
“At this age, the romance is so fun. Always give me a good romance,” Rodriguez said.
For a potential fourth film, the director would be particularly interested in exploring those romantic relationships now that the characters have been more fully established.
“I would love to explore the romance a little bit more, now that we have a really good foundation for all of these characters,” she said, adding that she never wanted the characters to be defined solely by their romantic relationships.
With that foundation in place, Rodriguez believes the next chapter could give the characters more room to explore their feelings — and perhaps even share their first kisses.

“Can we have someone kiss? I would love for that,” she said. “That would be really fun and a nice continuation of what we’ve already set up.”
A potential Camp Rock 4 could also explore what happens after the campers hit the road with Connect 3. At the end of Camp Rock 3, the group is preparing to go on tour, opening up another storyline for the characters.
Rodriguez said she would like to see how the experience changes the group and affects their friendships.
“I think there are so many questions about the final five going on tour with Connect 3,” she said. “What was that like? What happens to this group of friends? Where did that leave them?”
Despite her enthusiasm, Camp Rock 4 has not been officially confirmed. For now, Rodriguez says the cast and crew are simply waiting to see what happens.
Still, the director is clearly hoping the story continues.
“I am manifesting a Camp Rock 4,” Rodriguez said. “I love these kids. They’re so talented, and their relationships are so satisfying. I could watch them forever.”
