The actor further elaborated to the publication: “So I don’t know. You’d have to do some really weird stuff because he’s not been born yet. But, who knows?”
Blood of My Blood centers on Jamie’s mother and father Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater), along with Claire Fraser’s (Caitríona Balfe) parents Julia (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine).
While Claire has already been born, Jamie remains unconceived in the series thus far, with the Highland warrior having an elder sibling Willie who precedes his arrival.
Furthermore, the sole method Jamie could conceivably emerge in Blood of My Blood would involve a fantasy sequence, supernatural vision, or Jamie’s spirit manifesting. However, since Outlander has yet to unravel the enigma of Jamie’s ghost, it seems improbable that Heughan will make an appearance in the prequel series.
Heughan’s interview comes as he gears up to perform in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s latest rendition of Macbeth.
He expressed both “trepidation” and “excitement” about returning to the stage after such a long hiatus.
The actor will be taking on the role of the infamous Scottish king, with The Crown’s Lia Williams playing Lady Macbeth.
Macbeth will be staged in Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare.
Since his time on Outlander, Heughan has primarily worked on TV and film projects, including The Couple Next Door, SAS: Red Notice, To Olivia, and Bloodshot, among others.
He also lent his voice to the documentary Clinging by a Claw, which highlights the struggle of Scotland’s dwindling wildcat population.
Heughan is set to release his new book, The Cocktail Diaries: A Spirited Adventure, later this month.
Once Macbeth concludes, Heughan is expected to promote the eighth season of Outlander as the series comes to a close.
Even though Outlander is ending, production has already begun on the second season of Blood of My Blood.
The prequel series was given the go-ahead for a second season even before the premiere of the first episode.
