Outlander fans will know how Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) has been at the centre of some heartbreaking storylines so far on the time-travelling drama. However, in an interview earlier this year, the star opened up about which scenes scare him the most to film.
Which scenes did Jamie Fraser star Sam Heughan find scary to film?
Jamie Fraser has had to deal with a lot over the five seasons of Outlander so far, from his traumatic rape to his near-death experience.
Season five was no different as he dealt with storylines like the death of his godfather Murtagh Fitzgibbons (Duncan Lacroix) and nearly dying after a snake bite.
Then at the end of the series, he faced a traumatic storyline as his wife Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) was gang-raped.
Dealing with such heavy material is tough for any actor and Heughan opened up earlier this year about the scenes he found hardest to film.
Speaking to the IMDb show in March, he was asked: “What are the scenes that scare you the most as an actor?”
In response, Heughan said: “I think it’s when you feel exposed you know?
“If you’re underprepared or it’s something where you just don’t quite know what the outcome is going to be.
“And I like to be in that situation, I’m quite instinctual and I don’t like to overthink things too much.

“I like to know the playing field and then see what happens – I think that’s the most exciting but also the most scary.”
The actor also opened up in the interview about his favourite scenes to film when he got the scripts for each new season.
He added: “I think we all love anything that’s quite dramatic or we really get as actors to stretch ourselves.
“Or for outdoors, a lot of working with horses or battle stuff is great.
“The challenging scenes are probably [when] we deal with some very heavy content.
“The intimate scenes are obviously a challenge as well. They just take a bit more time and a bit more concentration.”
Viewers are currently waiting for Heughan to return to the series for the upcoming sixth season.
The new outing has already been commissioned by Starz with fans hopeful season six will be on its way soon.
The series is thought to be based on Diana Gabaldon’s sixth novel A Breath of Snow and Ashes.
However, little else is known about what is coming next for Jamie and Claire.
The series was due to begin filming in May but this was delayed after the outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19.
There is no official date when filming will start up again yet, but it seems like another extended Droughtlander might be on its way.
In the meantime, Heughan will be fronting a new Starz travel show with his Outlander co-star Graham McTavish.
Called Men in Kilts, the series follows them as they travel around Scotland.
