Jen Affleck and Zac Affleck put their family milestone in the spotlight as they celebrated their eldest daughter Nora’s fifth birthday just hours after news of their divorce made headlines.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives stars each shared glimpses of the celebration through their Instagram Stories on Wednesday, November 5, offering separate looks at the special day.
Jen, 27, posted a photo of Nora standing beside a new bicycle in a kitchen decorated with balloons and streamers. The reality star expressed disbelief at how quickly her daughter had grown, writing, “I can’t believe she’s already 5.”
Zac, 30, also marked the occasion with a video showing Nora blowing out candles on a birthday donut. Her younger brother, Lucas, 3, could be seen playing with a balloon in the background.
“Happy birthday Rara!” Zac captioned the clip. “I hope all your dreams always come true.”
He later shared another birthday tribute, writing, “Happy Birthday to my baby girl! You have the biggest heart and make everything feel a little extra magical. I love you.”
It remains unclear whether Jen attended the birthday festivities shown in Zac’s posts. She was not visibly featured in a separate Reel documenting his theme park outing with Nora, where the father and daughter spent time together during the celebration.
Divorce News Comes as Jen Prepares to Welcome Baby No. 4
The birthday celebration unfolded against a significant change in the couple’s relationship. Jen filed for divorce in Utah on Tuesday, submitting a proposed parenting plan as part of the proceedings.
The former couple shares three children: Nora, born in November 2021; Lucas, born in July 2023; and Penelope, born in July 2025. They also announced in June that they were expecting their fourth child together.
Jen previously introduced her pregnancy with an Instagram baby bump photo captioned “Chapter four.” On Wednesday, she continued sharing updates by posting new ultrasound images accompanied by a heart emoji.
Despite their separation, a source told People that Jen and Zac are concentrating on their children and the upcoming arrival.
“They are staying focused on preparing for the baby and supporting their kids,” the source said, describing how the former couple is navigating the split.
The pair’s family life has been a recurring part of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, where their relationship has been documented across four seasons since the series premiered in 2024.
Jen Previously Said Their Marriage Was Stronger Than Ever
The divorce news also contrasts with Jen’s earlier comments about their relationship. Last year, she told Us Weekly that their marriage was “stronger than ever.”
The Dancing with the Stars alum reflected on how couples can face difficult periods, explaining that some relationships end in divorce while others work through their struggles and eventually find unexpected strength.
Jen and Zac married in 2019, and their relationship has remained part of their public story throughout their reality television appearances.
The two are also expected to appear in Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, a spinoff announced in April that is scheduled to premiere on November 12. Their latest family milestone, however, comes as they begin a new chapter following Jen’s divorce filing while preparing to welcome another child.
