Victoria Beckham’s vow: ‘I won’t make the same mistakes with Harper’
She’ll do things differently with her daughter
It’s been a big week for Victoria Beckham – both personally and professionally. She dominated Paris Fashion Week with her Spring/Summer 2026 collection, where her family was front and centre – except for eldest son Brooklyn, who was notably absent amid their ongoing feud. And now, she’s gearing up for the release of her new Netflix docuseries, which hits screens on 9 October.
On top of that, her daughter Harper, 14, has officially joined Instagram, making her debut with an account where she calls herself ‘your fav blonde’. Her bio also reads, ‘Harper Beckham. Yours truly,’ and gives a nod to the family’s homes in London, Los Angeles, Miami and New York. With her profile set to private, Harper’s blue-ticked account has a tight-knit circle of 45 followers. This includes her parents Victoria, 51, and David, 50, as well as brothers Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, and Cruz’s girlfriend Jackie Apostel, 30.
Marking the launch of Harper’s arrival on the platform, Victoria reposted a black-and-white photo that her daughter shared of the two of them pulling pouty faces, with the caption, ‘Kisses @harperbeckham.’ Victoria also tagged the teen’s account in a second post about a dress fitting for her Fashion Week show. And insiders reveal to heat that, while Victoria and David have allowed Harper to dip her toes into the world of social media a year later than Instagram’s minimum legal age of 13, they have set boundaries and made sure rules are in place.
‘Letting Harper have her own Instagram was a big decision for them. Even though most of her friends have had it for a while, they wanted to make sure she was ready. It still has to be private for the moment and she can only accept family and close friends, and David and Victoria will check it,’ the source says.
We’re told that seeing her four children grow up in the spotlight – and after everything that’s happened with Brooklyn, 26, over the past few months – has made Victoria want to learn from past mistakes and do everything she can to keep Harper protected. ‘Victoria and David know a lot more about the dangers of social media than when Brooklyn first joined and while there are many good points, they need to make sure that she is looked after as it can be quite a cruel place. David especially has always been very protective over her as she’s the youngest and the only girl, and they have learnt from any mistakes they have made with the boys, especially Brooklyn,’ the insider continues.
‘Looking back, they probably gave Brooklyn a bit too much freedom, which was OK if he was a “normal” teenager, but there was a lot of pressure on him and people wanted him to fail. At 16, he had a million followers on Instagram. That’s a lot for a teenager to deal with as there is so much judgement.’
Victoria previously expressed her fears about Harper joining social media. She told Vogue Australia in 2022, ‘Seeing how cruel people can be, yes, it really does concern me. She’s at that age where her body is going to start changing, but it’s about making sure we communicate a lot as a family, and she surrounds herself with nice friends. But it is quite terrifying.’
Before officially joining Instagram, Harper would feature on Victoria and David’s accounts tagged as #HarperSeven, And over the past year, the teen has emerged from her parents’ shadows as a budding star in her own right. Last November, she gave her first public speech as she presented her mum with a magazine award, followed by a makeover video on her mum’s Instagram. In July, she starred in an Instagram make-up tutorial for VB Beauty, while she’s also featured in a number of pre-feud TikTok videos with her sister-in-law Nicola, 30.
heat previously reported that Victoria has big plans for Harper to one day take the reins of her fashion and beauty businesses. A source told us, ‘Her dream would be to step aside in a few years, and let Harper take her place in the spotlight. For Victoria, there’s definitely a sense that her days of being the ‘face’ of the Beckham brand are coming to an end. She’s very commercially astute and she understands that the future lies with her daughter.’
Now, our source says that while Victoria and David want to protect Harper as much as possible, they’re also supportive of a future career in the spotlight. ‘They have to slowly launch Harper into the showbiz life and the Beckham brand,’ they explain. ‘She will be doing more work with her mum. They want Harper to have their hard work ethic and shine in what she’s good at. Harper’s sensible and her favourite thing to do is hang out with her family. They feel grateful for that at the moment, especially with Brooklyn currently no longer part of the family.’
A second source adds that, even though Victoria’s mind has been occupied by her busy schedule and Netflix show, her relationship with Brooklyn is still causing upset. ‘Victoria feels her family should be her biggest cheerleaders right now. Instead, she worries the ongoing rift with Brooklyn and Nicola completely overshadows the years of work she’s put into the documentary and the focus she’s put on her fashion brand,’ we’re told. ‘She loves Brooklyn unconditionally. She’ll never stop reaching out. She just hopes he’ll reach back one day.’
