This Morning viewers were left in tears today after watching Down’s Syndrome charity Wouldn’t Change A Thing sing their new school.
In emotional scenes, presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby sang a Greatest Showman hit with a group of parents and Down’s Syndrome children.
The nine mums and one dad were on the sofa to explain how appearing on This Morning earlier this year had helped their cause.
The parents were joined by their incredible children, who gave a preview of their new song – Tightrope from The Greatest Showman.
Tania Charlton, Director and Trustee, thanked Holly and Phil for all their support over the past year.
She said: “It’s made a huge difference. It’s how the family view, the love, you hear a lot of stats and medical lists about children with Down’s Syndrome.
“We’re not sugarcoating it. We want to show how we feel as the families and how much we love the kids. We wouldn’t change having them in our lives regardless of the challenges because we love them.”
She was joined by cheeky son Henry, who have Phillip a high five then said he was fluent in Japanese.
Mark Miller, the only dad in the group, said he was trying to represent all the other fathers out there.
Sat with son Jack, he said: “Sometimes I think dads are underrepresented in the media and on social media.
“I think it’s an excellent opportunity to get a shout out. There’s some great dads out there doing amazing things.”
Emotional viewers took to Twitter after watching the amazing performance.
One viewer said: “Oh my! The parents and kids on #Thismorning singing has just melted my heart! They show that having Downs Syndrome can be the beginning and not the end!”
“Crying at the little’uns signing their new song on #ThisMorning,” added another.
A third said: “WOW just watched this on train on the way to lgi with my little libby mae who also has Down syndrome .. full on tears.. these kids make us parents proud each and everyday”
