If you’re like most readers visiting this website, there’s a good chance there’s at least one vehicle out there that holds a very special place in your heart. Whether it’s still in the garage or it was sold long ago, it’s a vehicle packed with memories – a place, a time, or a person. Indeed, some vehicles become way more than just machines. Now, we’re watching as one family gets to relive that exact kind of moment as a second-gen Chevy Camaro RS is pulled from long-term storage and brought back to life after sitting untouched for well over a decade.

In a new video from WD Detailing, the crew sets out to revive this old Chevy Camaro inside and out. From failing brakes to moldy upholstery and years of grime, this old two-door certainly presents a few challenges, but it’s nothing the crew doesn’t know how to handle.

The car belongs to Shane, and originally belonged to the owner’s late father, who had a love for Camaros and Pontiacs. Shane shares that his dad used to own a Firebird and a first-gen Camaro before family responsibilities made him part ways with his early muscle cars. Later in life, he bought two second-gen Camaros, including a Z28 and RS, as a way to reconnect with that passion.

The team focuses on the RS, which has sat for about 12 years. After pulling it out, the crew dives under the hood, flushing out old fluids and cleaning the carburetor before getting the engine to turn over. The resident mechanic also bleeds the brakes and tops off the transmission fluid.

Once the Camaro is running and driving, the crew then gives it a full cosmetic makeover, detailing the exterior, polishing the wheels, degreasing the engine, and cleaning the interior. Unfortunately, the carpet is too far gone and needs to be replaced.

Watching the two-tone Camaro come back to life is a real treat, but the highlight of the video is when the team surprises Shane and his mother by revealing the restored car. It’s an emotional moment, and makes the restoration all the more satisfying:
