The other day, Libby Hackett and her family were driving near their home in Ohio when they happened upon a roadblock of sorts.
In the path up ahead, a handful of geese were waddling their way across the street. Hackett decided to take her phone out to film them.
“I thought it was going to be such a sweet video of a couple dozen geese, at most,” Hackett told The Dodo.
She was wrong.
Vehicles in both directions came to a stop to allow the geese to safely cross. Hackett initially thought their journey would be delayed by only a few moments as she pointed her phone’s camera straight ahead. But then:
“My husband and daughter were in the car, too, and he said something along the lines of, ‘Oh my goodness, look to the left,’” Hackett said. “And so I panned to the left.”
“These geese are very well known to the locals. They pass over this road regularly because there’s a pond on the side they’re heading to,” Hackett said. “But admittedly, I was taken aback by how many there were that day. I had never seen a flock that huge!”
The momentary stop lasted several more minutes than Hackett initially thought it would.
Eventually, all the geese made their way across the road.
Hackett and her family may have been delayed that day, but they couldn’t have been more thrilled as to why.
“We couldn’t believe it. We were so excited to be witnessing something so cool,” she said. “We were happy to wait for them.”
