Strictly Come Dancing fans are asking bosses to bring back a familiar tradition after the show introduced another format change just before the first live show of the 2026 series.
The BBC dance show has already gone through several changes this year, including new presenters and professional dancers. Now, fans have spotted another difference that they are not exactly excited about.
The latest change appeared in a video shared by the show ahead of the first live episode.

Instead of giving each celebrity and their professional partner a separate video to reveal their dance and song, the 2026 cast were shown writing their names and dances on one sign-up sheet.
One by one, the celebrities added their names and revealed what they would perform during the first live show. The completed sheet then showed the full lineup in one video.
While the reveal may have been a simple change, longtime viewers quickly noticed that it replaced a format they had become used to seeing every week.

‘Can We Go Back to the Normal Format?’
In previous series, each celebrity and their professional partner would have their own short video revealing their dance and song for the upcoming show.
The information was also traditionally revealed earlier in the week, usually on Tuesday, rather than in a Friday video.

Fans took to the comments to make it clear that they would like the old format to return.
“Pretty please can we have the normal reel reveal next week thank you sooo much!” one viewer wrote.

Another fan said, “Can we at least keep the normal song reveal format 😭 we have enough change already.”
“I hope next week it is back to the nice little video with what dance and song on a Tuesday!! Please!!!” a third viewer added.
The reaction comes as Strictly Come Dancing prepares for its first live show of the new season, with viewers also getting used to a new presenting lineup.

New Hosts Prepare for Their First Live Show
Josh Widdicombe is taking on hosting duties alongside Emma Willis and Johannes Radebe this series.
The comedian admitted that he was feeling “terrified” ahead of his first live show, although he also described the experience as exciting.
“What could possibly go wrong?” Widdicombe joked.

He added that hosting the show would feel “utterly surreal” and said he hoped the nerves would never completely disappear.
The first live show of the 2026 series is set to air at 6:15 p.m., giving viewers their first chance to see the new lineup in action.
For now, fans have made their request clear: after a series of changes, they would like at least one familiar Strictly tradition to return next week.
