Prince Harry has revealed that his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are back in school in the UK after the family made a sudden change just two days into their original school term.
The Duke of Sussex shared the update during the Invictus Spirit Gala Dinner & Awards in London on Thursday, giving a brief look at how his family has settled in since returning to Britain.
“We’re getting stuck into the work. Kids are in school. We’re happy,” Harry told Hello! magazine.
Harry, 42, attended the event without Meghan Markle and described the family’s return to British soil as an “eventful” couple of weeks. He also spoke warmly about having his family with him as he continues his work with the Invictus Games.
The update comes shortly after Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, were reportedly pulled from their first UK prep school after only two days.
According to reports, the decision was linked to concerns about the practicalities of the children’s daily school run. Heavy traffic around the school was reportedly putting pressure on the Sussexes’ small security team and making it difficult to keep their protective arrangements running smoothly.
A representative for Harry and Meghan said the decision was made after discussions with the family’s security team about their existing arrangements.
An insider also claimed that the couple had completed security checks at the school before the children started, but they had not been able to test the actual journey to and from school.
Despite the sudden change, the children reportedly loved their first school.
“It’s a real shame, because they absolutely adored the school, the kids and their parents,” a source said.
The family then enrolled Archie and Lilibet at another school, but security concerns reportedly followed them there as well.
Meghan’s personal phone number was reportedly leaked after she joined a WhatsApp group for parents at the new school. According to reports, an exchange involving Meghan and two other mothers was screenshotted, and her number was subsequently shared multiple times.
The security concerns come as Harry and Meghan continue adjusting to life in the UK after moving back with their children on August 26, following several years living in Montecito, California.
Harry has also been involved in a busy schedule since returning. At Thursday’s Invictus event, he celebrated raising around $2.3 million for the organization, with about 340 guests and Invictus competitors and their families attending the gala.
“It’s been many weeks, months and years in the making,” Harry said of the event. “So to have a room full of 340 people and Invictus competitors from all around the world and their families, we did it.”
He also said it was “great to be back on British soil” and spoke about looking ahead to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
The next day, Harry visited a school in Birmingham, where he played pickleball as part of an education program connected to the upcoming Games.
For now, Harry’s latest comment confirms that Archie and Lilibet are once again attending school in the UK, although the family’s return has already brought several unexpected security challenges.
