Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have moved their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to a new school just two days after they started classes in the U.K.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, began school last week after the family moved back to Harry’s home country. However, the couple decided to switch schools after discussing security concerns with their protection team.

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan said the decision was based on “the practicalities of their current arrangements” and stressed that it was not a reflection of the school or its staff.

“The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family,” the spokesperson said.

According to reports, the concerns were linked to heavy traffic around the school and the distance between the school and the family’s home. One incident reportedly made it difficult for their security vehicles to remain together during the school run.

Although the family’s security team checked the school before the children started classes, the practical journey could not be fully assessed until the school was operating normally.

A friend said Archie and Lilibet had loved the school and enjoyed spending time there, but the family ultimately decided that the daily journey could not be made secure enough for their security team.

The school change comes as Harry and Meghan are also facing a new security assessment in the U.K. The Royal and VIP Executive Committee, known as RAVEC, is expected to review their security arrangements. The couple lost their automatic police protection after stepping down as working royals in 2020.

Settling Archie and Lilibet into their new life in Britain has remained a major priority for the family. A source close to the couple previously said they have been busy helping the children adjust after moving halfway around the world.

Education was also an important reason behind the family’s decision to spend more time in the U.K. after living in California since 2020. Harry has previously expressed a desire for his children to understand the country where he grew up and their family history.

The couple appeared to give fans a glimpse of their new life over the weekend when Meghan shared photos and videos of the family outdoors in Britain.

Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet were seen walking through the woods, fishing and playing in puddles. Archie was also seen running alongside his younger sister, while Lilibet rode a bike with training wheels.
