Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly facing a difficult start to their new life in the UK after moving back from California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The couple were said to have hoped that returning to Britain would bring them closer to Harry’s family. Instead, reports claim their relationship with the royal family has become even more strained, leaving the Sussexes questioning whether the move was the right decision.

Harry And Meghan Reportedly Feel Unwelcome
The Sussexes announced their plan to return to the UK on August 19 and arrived on August 26.
According to a source cited by the National Examiner, Harry and Meghan had expected their return to be viewed as a positive development. However, the same source claimed that the couple now feel that “no one genuinely wants them there.”
The report also claims King Charles has been difficult to reach, while Prince William and Kate Middleton have allegedly kept their distance from Harry and Meghan.
The source claimed the lack of contact has left Meghan feeling unwelcome and the couple wondering whether moving back to Britain was a “huge mistake.”

A Highgrove Reunion Had Given Them Hope
The reported tension comes only weeks after Harry and Meghan had a reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove.
The meeting was seen by some sources as a possible step toward repairing the family’s strained relationships. It was also the first time Harry and Meghan, together with Archie and Lilibet, had met the monarch since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.
Charles and Camilla reportedly spent around an hour with the Sussex family during the meeting.
At the time, Harry was reportedly left feeling happy and encouraged by the encounter, with hopes that it could lead to further progress within the family.
Not long afterward, Harry and Meghan made their return to Britain permanent.

Then Came The Royal Clarification
The mood reportedly changed after Buckingham Palace issued formal guidance about Harry and Meghan’s position within the royal family.
A letter from Lord Chamberlain Richard Benyon, issued at King Charles’ direction, clarified that the Sussexes remain non-working members of the royal family despite their return to Britain.
Their HRH styles remain “in abeyance” and are not to be used, while their position was described as being similar to that of private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.
According to reports, Harry and Meghan were caught off guard by the clarification and were reportedly surprised that they had not been informed beforehand.
The move was described by some commentators as the King drawing a firm boundary around the Sussexes’ role.

Harry Is Reportedly Staying Patient
Despite the difficulties, Harry is reportedly trying to remain hopeful about rebuilding relationships with his family.
A source cited by the National Examiner claimed Harry has been telling Meghan that they need to be patient, although the transition has reportedly been much harder for her.
Meghan is also said to be missing her life in the United States and struggling with the adjustment to Britain.

According to the same report, she is “hanging in there” despite the situation reportedly testing her limits.
For now, the Sussexes’ return has not produced the family reconciliation some reports had anticipated. Instead, their new life in Britain appears to be unfolding alongside continuing questions about their relationship with the royal family and their place within it.
