Sam Heughan: “If you love Outlander, you’re going to love Blood of My Blood”

While we’re still waiting for Outlander Season 7B, fans of the series had the opportunity to meet some of the cast at Land Con 6 in Paris on April 13th and 14th. Present at this official event was Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser. He took the opportunity to talk about the end of the series and Outlander: Blood of My Blood, the prequel currently in development by the American channel Starz.

Written by Matthew B. Roberts, this Outlander spin-off will explore the lives of Jamie’s parents in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands and Claire’s parents in World War I England. It’s an ambitious project that will expand the universe of the original series, and one that already has the strong support of Sam Heughan. The Scottish actor promises: “If you love Outlander, you’re going to love Blood of My Blood.”

He adds: “I’m really excited about this show. There is so much to look forward to. This show, I can’t give anything away, but I’m going to be the biggest fan. I’ve been hearing stories about the actors, about the characters and the storyline… I can’t wait to see it.” That’s reassuring news for fans of the original series.

Who will be in the cast of Outlander: Blood of My Blood?

To play the main characters, Outlander: Blood of My Blood production has called on Jamie Roy (Squeaky Clean Mysteries: Hazardous Duty), Harriet Slater (Pennyworth), Hermione Corfield (We Hunt Together) and Jeremy Irvine (Treadstone). They will play Brian Fraser, Ellen MacKenzie, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp respectively.

The Outlander prequel will also feature Rory Alexander (Pistol), Sam Retford (Coronation Street), Seamus McLean Ross (Payback) and Conor MacNeill (Industry) as young Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, Dougal MacKenzie, Colum MacKenzie and Ned Gowan.
