Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, the beloved duo from Outlander, have finished filming their last scenes as Jamie and Claire Fraser for the show’s eighth and final season, set to conclude sometime between 2025 and 2026.
While an official release date is still up in the air, the stars are already relishing their new freedom, with Heughan spilling the beans on The Kelly Clarkson Show about his post-wrap adventures.
The Scottish heartthrob popped by to chat about his latest venture beyond Outlander, the steamy Channel 4 drama The Couple Next Door, now streaming on Starz.
During his talk with Kelly, he opened up about life after wrapping the fantasy series, admitting, “It’s been a long part of my life,” and acknowledging the bittersweet feelings that come with saying goodbye.
Kelly, having caught wind of Heughan’s significant celebration, got him to divulge his post-filming escapades.

“We had wrap parties and everything,” he said, “But, actually I went to Nepal.”
Heughan shared his lifelong dream of visiting Everest, which he fulfilled with his pal Jake Norton, an experienced mountaineer.
In a surprising revelation, Heughan announced that they were the first to trek a particular route in the Himalayas, reports the Daily Record.
“We hiked for two weeks along the Hunku Khola valley,” he disclosed, “And we were the first people ever to do that. So we had this amazing ceremony…”
Kelly was utterly astonished as she exclaimed, “OK, Lewis and Clark! Like, wow! I didn’t even know that those adventures were still available.”
Heughan responded with enthusiasm about the untamed beauty of Nepal: “There’s so much of Nepal, so many peaks that have never been climbed, that don’t even have names.”
As he delved into his journey, Heughan described a warm welcome in a remote village, “We went there, to this small village,” and as images from his expedition appeared on screen, he narrated, “They blessed us and we then walked for two weeks and camping in this bamboo forest.”
The adventure escalated as they reached higher altitudes, “Then up into the alpine and then, as you can see, we got up to the Amphu Laptsa pass, which is like 20,000 feet, and then had to rappel several thousand feet down into the Khumbu valley. So it was pretty crazy, but a lot of fun.”
Kelly couldn’t help but chuckle at the thought of descending after such an arduous climb, “You’ve worked your whole way up and then you’ve gotta go all the way down,” to which Heughan humorously conceded, “That’s the worst part, right?
“You’re like, ‘Oh, this is amazing, and I’ve worked so hard to get here. Oh God, now I’ve gotta get back down again’.”
Fans of Heughan can look forward to more thrilling updates, as the Outlander star has been actively posting about his escapades on Instagram, especially now that he’s bid farewell to his character Jamie.
