Prince William is said to be planning a romantic getaway for Kate Middleton in the south west of England, following a challenging year for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The year 2024 has seen both Kate battling an undisclosed form of cancer and King Charles undergoing treatment for the same disease.
This makes this year’s Christmas particularly poignant as the royal couple cherishes their time with loved ones. An insider told Bella magazine that William “wants to create memories with Kate so he’s planning a romantic getaway to the Isles of Scilly – one of their favourite places to escape for some quiet time together”.
As 2024 draws to a close, a year which saw William deeply involved in his charitable work, caring for Kate and his father, and meeting president-elect Donald Trump, more details about his plans for Kate this Christmas have emerged. The source revealed: “Kate’s family will be a big part of the celebrations, too.
“They always are but this year William is coordinating with them so that Kate will have her whole family with her for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.”
These Christmas plans and the rumoured 2025 romantic trip to the Isles of Scilly, just off the coast of Cornwall, come as Kate continues her recovery from cancer treatment, reports the Express.

The romantic getaway spot chosen by William is an archipelago located in the Celtic Sea with a population of just 2,203. However, this number rises slightly when William and Kate arrive and visit their holiday home owned by the Duchy of Cornwall.
The four bedroom property, known as Tamarisk House, is on the largest of the Isles of Scilly’s islands, St Mary’s, and can even by rented out to the public, reports the Mirror. Describing St Mary’s the Isles of Scilly tourism website says: “St. Mary’s is an easy going safe haven of hidden treasures. The coastline features large stretches of deserted white sandy beaches, dramatic rocky coves, stunning seascapes, amazing archaeological sites, beautiful walks and scenery along miles of coastal and country paths and nature trails.”
Away from the Isles of Scilly William has been busy doing various things and visiting different places. He recently was seen chatting to Donald Trump following the re-opening of Notre Dame but it is not clear what they spoke about.

Speaking after the event Trump told the New York Post: “He looked really, very handsome last night. Some people look better in person. He looked great. He looked really nice, and I told him that.”
Donald Trump’s past praise for the UK Royal Family, including the late Queen Elizabeth II, contrasts with concerns that he may not be as understanding towards Prince Harry, who now resides in the US. Speaking to the Express, Clacton MP and Reform Party chief Nigel Farage highlighted potential issues for Harry stemming from his previous drug use admissions.
Farage remarked: “A lot depends on the drug stuff, if the Trump administration would push for asking, ‘was his visa granted on the basis of untruths? ‘ That would be very interesting.”
