Noah Wyle’s return as Dr. Robby in The Pitt season 2 was already exciting, but the newest addition to the cast of Max’s hit medical drama makes it even harder to wait for. In an almost unprecedented timeline for streaming shows, The Pitt season 2 is just months away, even though the ending of The Pitt season 1 was released in April. As the show quickly makes progress, we’ve gotten more news about The Pitt season 2, including its timeline, the fact that it will follow Dr. Langdon’s (Patrick Ball) return to the hospital, and even some updates about the cast of The Pitt.

With all the new information being released about The Pitt season 2, the upcoming season was already a highly anticipated release. The Pitt did, after all, break streaming records for Max, and it was the definition of a critical darling. There’s also so much to look forward to, from the returning characters in The Pitt season 2 to getting a new glimpse into the lives of some beloved doctors and nurses. One bit of news about The Pitt season 2, however, makes the show even more exciting than it was before, and it should have a big impact on Dr. Robby.

The Pitt Season 2 Cast Another Attending Physician

The Pitt Season 2 Has Now Cast Attendings, Residents, Nurses, & Even Patients

Variety has confirmed that Sepideh Moafi was cast as a new character in The Pitt season 2. Moafi is known for a few hit shows, such as The Deuce, where she played Loretta, and The L Word: Generation Q, where she played Gigi Ghorbani, as well as a few movies like The Killing of Two Lovers and Best Man in the Dark. According to the report, Moafi will play a yet-unnamed attending physician in The Pitt season 2, and she’ll have a recurring role in the upcoming season. Moafi’s casting also comes after The Pitt season 2 added four new actors, including doctors, nurses, and a patient.

It’s also very likely that Moafi’s attending physician will have a close relationship with Dr. Robby. Moafi has reportedly been cast in a recurring role, and The Pitt‘s real-time format indicates that she’ll be in the emergency room at the same time as Robby. We also know that The Pitt season 2 takes place over the Fourth of July weekend, so it’s entirely possible that PTMC called in a larger group of doctors than normal, which may require two attending physicians to properly manage. In any case, we know that Moafi’s character and Robby will interact in some way; we just don’t know how yet.

How Sepideh Moafi’s Casting In The Pitt Season 2 Will Affect Dr. Robby

Moafi’s Character Could Provide Either Support Or Even More Tension For Dr. Robby In The Pitt Season 2

It’s too early to tell what Sepideh Moafi’s character in The Pitt season 2 will be like, but we can speculate about what kind of effect she’ll have on Robby. There are two main choices for Moafi’s character: she can either be a rival to Robby or a new source of support for him. If she’s a rival, she could inject The Pitt season 2 with a new layer of tension and stress, especially as Robby’s patient satisfaction ratings and wait times bog him down. Moafi’s attending physician could be The Pitt season 2’s version of the stress Robby felt about the anniversary of Dr. Adamson’s death.

Noah Wyle and creator R. Scott Gemmill address The Pitt’s future beyond the confirmed season 2 after a critically acclaimed debut outing on Max.

Alternatively, Moafi’s attending physician could be another friend of Robby’s and an integral part of his support system. Dana (Katherine LaNasa) may not come back in The Pitt season 2 after she presumably quit, which would leave Robby without a peer he can really talk to and understand. Moafi’s attending physician could basically fill Dana’s role in The Pitt season 2 and give Robby a way to release some tension with a trusted friend (even if he won’t accept the help that’s offered). Either way, Moafi’s character should highlight some new sides of Robby in The Pitt season 2, and I’m very excited to see who she is.
