Elle Kennedy is opening up about the one thing she refused to compromise when Off Campus made the jump from page to screen.
The bestselling author recently revealed that, while helping adapt her beloved hockey romance series into the Prime Video show, her biggest priority was making sure the TV version stayed true to the heart of the books. In an interview with Deadline, Kennedy explained that preserving the original spirit of the story was her one non-negotiable condition.
That meant keeping everything fans fell in love with—from Hannah and Allie’s unforgettable friendship to the romance, witty banter, and the fan-favourite bromance that made the books so addictive.

Another huge part of the show’s essence is the “nostalgic” aspect of it all, Kennedy said. Each book’s romance is set against the backdrop of college life, and often unfolds alongside coming-of-age elements.
“I have a soft spot for this series because it was my first foray into younger characters, like college-age. So it’s always going to be a nostalgic thing,” Kennedy said.
