Eleanor Tomlinson says Aidan Turner is more embarrassed by their Poldark sex scenes than she is.
The 24-year-old actress plays Demelza in the hit BBC drama and has to strip down for passionate scenes with her on-screen husband, Captain Ross – played by 33-year-old Aidan.
‘It’s hilarious,’ Eleanor says of their sex scenes, explaining: ‘They say it’s a closed set but there’s still 25 people you’ve never met filming while you’re standing in a beige bra.’
However she implies she deals with the scenes better than her co-star – explaining that Aidan struggles with the sex symbol status that has been thrown onto him due to his topless scything scenes.
‘He’s such a lovely person I think he’s a bit shy and he finds it a bit embarrassing. He’s a brilliant actor,’ Eleanor said.
Talking to Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on the sofas of ITV’s This Morning, Eleanor had another shock revelation about her involvement in the show.
Explaining how her success has not made her impossibly famous, she began: ‘I can still walk down the street and be unbothered. It’s only when the show is on people say: “Oh! She’s ginger. It must be her!”’
Ruth then asked her if she is really a red head, and Eleanor replied: ‘No. I’m naturally blonde!’
She also said her flame-haired look gives her fire in her heart. ‘I love it. It’s great fun. It gives me more confidence,’ she said.
