Writer Steven Knight’s cinematic world continues to expand. Not only is he penning the upcoming, untitled 26th James Bond film, he will be writing a Peaky Blinders sequel (set in the 1950s and after the events of the Peaky Blinders film), and his latest project, House of Guinness, is now streaming on Netflix. There’s also a second season coming of A Thousand Blows, a Victorian-era boxing drama about the Forty Elephants gang.

“It’d be funny to see Peaky characters drinking Guinness,” Knight tells Town & Country. “I dunno. I don’t like the idea of universe, but it’s a laugh, what it’s got going for, it’s funny.”

Star Anthony Boyle, who plays Arthur Guinness, also thinks a crossover between House of Guinness and Peaky Blinders would be funny. “That could be good,” he says. “Arthur popping up with various Steven Knight shows. Like Marvel, like an end credit scene: Tommy Shelby and Arthur Guinness drinking together.” He adds, “I’m just not sure he would get on with anyone else in [Steven Knight’s] other shows because he’s a bit of a dick. He’s not really a good guy.”

Peaky Blinders does exist in the same universe as Knight’s series A Thousand Blows, however. “It’s nearly 40 years before, but the difference between 1888 and 1919 wasn’t that huge, really, in terms of the technology available and all of those things. The society was the same. It was all Britain; it was all working class people living in a country that runs an empire, which is a very particular thing,” Knight explained to T&C. The Forty Elephants could pop up in Peaky, he says. “It could well happen. It could well happen, because Peaky is going to continue, and as we go through the 20th century, the big cities were not so far apart in terms of ability to go from one place to the other. So who knows!”
