Alice Oseman has announced the release date for Heartstopper Volume 6 as fans prepare to say goodbye to Nick and Charlie for good.

Oseman began writing the hit queer web-comic back in 2016, telling the uplifting love story of Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson, who were first introduced in Oseman’s debut novel, Solitaire.

Taking to social media on Wednesday (24 September) Oseman posted a cute video of themselves taking a Heartstopper 2026 calendar off the shelf and leafing through till next July. They then label 2 July 2026 as “Vol. 6 release day!!”.

In the caption for the post Oseman wrote, “Heartstopper Volume 6 will be released on the 2nd July 2026 🍂Almost time to say goodbye to Heartstopper… Still drawing it right now and having a great time!!! But I will be very sad when it’s over 🥲”

A synopsis for the final-ever Heartstopper volume reads: “Everyone in school knows Nick and Charlie. Everyone knows they’re going to be together forever. But Charlie’s busy with his bid to become head boy. And while Nick is preparing to leave for college, he’s starting to wonder who he’ll be…without Charlie.”

Commenting on Wednesday’s announcement Oseman said, “It truly is the end of an era. I have worked on Heartstopper, in one way or another, for the best part of a decade. What started as a fun side-project has become something bigger than I could ever possibly have imagined.

“It has been a dream come true to watch fans across the globe accept Nick, Charlie and the whole gang into their hearts. I’m blown away to see how this love story has positively impacted, and been embraced by, so many people and I hope we can see that joy continue, even after we close this final chapter. I just can’t wait for everyone to read it in July!”

The graphic novel series has become a global phenomenon since it was first published for free online. It has gone on to be printed, selling over 10 million copies in 39 countries.

And of course, it spawned the popular Netflix adaptation starring Kit Connor, Joe Locke, Yasmin Finney, and more. The series has lasted for three seasons, closely adapting the graphic novel whilst adding new material and maturing with its audience.

The series will conclude next year with the release of the feature film, Heartstopper Forever, which is based on the upcoming sixth volume as well as the novella, Nick and Charlie.
