9-1-1’s Oliver Stark Confesses Iconic Buddie Scene Was “SUPER GAY!”

9-1-1 star Oliver Stark has called an iconic season three scene involving popular ship ‘Buddie’ – characters Evan ‘Buck’ Buckley and Eddie Diaz – ‘super gay’.

The scene from the long running FOX first responders drama occurs in episode nine of season three, “Fallout”, between Buck (Oliver Stark) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman).

Since Eddie’s introduction to 9-1-1 in its second season in 2018, viewers and fans have been clamouring (read: begging) for the pair to make their relationship canon (confirmed in show) – and though they still haven’t, eight seasons later, it’s not like those viewers have been left completely starving.

The pair are practically co-parents of Eddie’s son, as seen in the most recent episode of season eight, but the flirting started long before that.

One particularly scene that had viewers screaming at their televisions that these are not two straight men was Eddie and Buck speaking in a kitchen

In it, the pair discuss a hypothetical sparring match, with Buck saying, “I thought for sure that day in the grocery store you were going to take a swing at me.”

“But you didn’t deserve it,” Eddie replied. “I wouldnt do that. You were on blood thinners.”

“I’d still take you,” said Buck.

“You think so?” said Eddie, to which Buck replied, “I know. You wanna go for the title?”

For anyone thinking that this sounds a lot like foreplay, you’re not wrong – because in a new clip from the Smith Sisters Live podcast, it turns out that Buck’s actor Stark agrees.

After a reading of the scene, Stark responded, “Yeah, that was super gay.”

Everybody cheered.

“When that scene was written, Tim Minear, who is our showrunner, said to the writer of the episode, ‘This is just two guys talking to each other?’” Stark added. “And the writer said, ‘I wouldn’t talk to my best friend like that.’”

Everybody cheered again.

Despite this, Buddie is still not canon – but boy, can we dream.
