NBC’s Today came out on top in the latest morning-show ratings battle, beating both ABC’s Good Morning America and CBS’ CBS Mornings in total viewers and the key Adults 25-54 demographic.
The latest figures cover the week of August 17 and show a notable gap between the three major morning programs. According to AdWeek, citing Nielsen’s national live+same-day big data and program ratings, Today averaged 2.818 million total viewers and 582,000 viewers in the Adults 25-54 demographic.
The result also makes Today the only one of the three shows to record growth in at least one of the two measured categories compared with the previous week.

‘Today’ Extends Its Lead Over ‘GMA’
Co-hosted by Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin, Today increased its total audience by 2% from the previous week. Its Adults 25-54 audience, however, slipped by 1%.
The bigger story comes from the year-over-year numbers. Compared with the same week in 2025, Today was up 18% in total viewers and 13% in the key demographic.
ABC’s Good Morning America remained close behind in total audience, averaging 2.738 million viewers for the week. The program also drew 440,000 viewers among Adults 25-54.
However, GMA experienced declines compared with the previous week, falling 1% in total viewers and 5% in the demo.
The show, hosted by Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos and Michael Strahan, did have some positive news in its year-over-year performance. Its total audience was up 7% compared with the same period in 2025, although the Adults 25-54 demographic declined by 1%.
‘CBS Mornings’ Falls Behind Both Rivals’

CBS’ CBS Mornings had a considerably tougher week.
The program averaged 1.602 million total viewers and 258,000 Adults 25-54 viewers, putting it well behind both Today and Good Morning America in the latest rankings.
Compared with the previous week, CBS Mornings dropped 6% in total viewers and another 6% in the key demographic.
The year-over-year comparison was also unfavorable. The show was down 5% in total viewers and 17% among Adults 25-54 compared with the same week in 2025.
Hosted by Gayle King and Nate Burleson, CBS Mornings was the only one of the three programs to decline in both measured categories year over year.
For now, Today has the strongest position in the morning-show ratings race, leading both in overall audience and among the highly sought-after Adults 25-54 demographic.
