‘The Price Is Right’ and ‘Let’s Make a Deal’ Announce Special ‘Star Trek’ Episodes

Star Trek is boldly going where few sci-fi franchises have gone before: into the world of daytime game shows.

To celebrate the iconic franchise’s 60th anniversary, CBS’s The Price Is Right and Let’s Make a Deal will each air special Star Trek-themed episodes on Tuesday, September 8. The episodes will feature special guests, themed prizes, devoted Trekkies in the audience, and plenty of surprises inspired by the legendary franchise.

Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck Join The Price Is Right

The Price Is Right will honor six decades of Star Trek and its lasting television legacy with appearances from stars of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Rebecca Romijn, who plays Number One, the first officer of the USS Enterprise, and Ethan Peck, who portrays science officer Spock, will join the celebration. The pair will introduce a trip for one lucky contestant.

The studio audience will be packed with Star Trek fans, giving the episode an appropriately enthusiastic atmosphere. Contestants will compete for prizes including luxury vacations inspired by Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, brand-new cars, ATVs designed to handle almost any terrain, technology worthy of the Starship Enterprise, and showcases filled with additional prizes.

The Star Trek theme will extend beyond the guests and prizes. Host Drew Carey will take on the title of “Captain,” while announcer George Gray and the show’s models will also wear costumes inspired by the franchise.

During the opening, Carey jokes that the group has come in peace to give away Earth prizes while spreading “democracy and fast food throughout the universe.”

Wayne Brady Takes Command on Let’s Make a Deal

Over at Let’s Make a Deal, Wayne Brady will also step into a Star Trek-inspired role as “Captain.”

Brady will be joined by Jonathan Mangum as “Commander” and Tiffany Coyne as “First Officer” as they make deals with an audience filled with Star Trek fans.

The prizes will include trips to exotic vacation destinations, iconic pieces of Star Trek memorabilia, and other surprises. Of course, contestants will still have to avoid the dreaded Zonk — this time with a space-themed twist.

One contestant will take part in What’s in the Box? after receiving a clue about a digital device that provides the time and date, along with a hint that the next destination is somewhere filled with like-minded people.

Brady gives the contestant a choice between the mystery box and $1,000. Believing the box could contain a trip, the contestant chooses the box. Viewers will have to tune in to discover what was waiting inside.

A Six-Decade Celebration of Star Trek

The two game-show specials are part of a broader celebration marking 60 years of Star Trek. The franchise originally premiered in 1966 and has since grown into one of television’s most enduring science-fiction properties.

Meanwhile, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is continuing its fourth season on Paramount+. The 10-episode season premiered on July 23, with new episodes being released weekly through September 24.

For longtime fans, the special episodes of The Price Is Right and Let’s Make a Deal offer a playful way to celebrate six decades of Star Trek — complete with familiar stars, themed costumes, prizes and a little bit of intergalactic game-show chaos.
