Caitlin Grimm and Devin Short entered Married at First Sight Season 20 ready to give their arranged marriage a real chance. But as their relationship progressed, differences in communication, emotional needs and expectations began to create growing tension between them.
The couple ultimately reached a difficult decision before Decision Day, bringing their marriage to an end during the couples’ retreat.

Are Caitlin and Devin still together?
Caitlin, 28, and Devin, 27, ended their relationship shortly before Decision Day during Episode 18.
Unlike some other Season 20 couples who reconsidered their breakups, Caitlin and Devin did not appear to reconcile afterward.
Their current lives also suggest that they have gone their separate ways. The two no longer appear to follow each other on Instagram. Caitlin revealed in January 2026 that she had moved to Montana, while Devin appears to remain based in Seattle.
However, viewers will have to wait for the Season 20 reunion, airing August 27, for a more complete update on their relationship and what happened after filming.

Why did Caitlin and Devin break up?
Their relationship reached a breaking point during the couples’ retreat.
The pair struggled to agree on physical intimacy, but tensions escalated after Devin became concerned that Caitlin was acting flirtatiously toward Mecca Amen. The disagreement led to a major confrontation between the couple.
After the argument, Devin said he felt Caitlin had spoken to him disrespectfully. Caitlin, meanwhile, felt that Devin was constantly scrutinizing and overanalyzing her behavior.
Although she acknowledged that Devin was a good person, Caitlin ultimately concluded that they were not compatible and believed ending the marriage was the healthiest decision.
Devin later admitted that the breakup was painful because he had entered the experiment ready to fully commit. He felt that he had invested significant effort into making the marriage work but did not feel Caitlin had allowed him to become fully part of her life.
Caitlin also became emotional while reflecting on the relationship. She described the experience as the most vulnerable she had ever been and said she wished the marriage could have worked.
What went wrong during their marriage?
The differences between Caitlin and Devin appeared early in the experiment.
During their honeymoon, the couple began to recognize that they had very different approaches to relationships. Caitlin valued personal space and described herself as less emotionally expressive, while Devin wanted more time together and greater physical affection.
Their personalities were even compared to the familiar “black cat” and “golden retriever” dynamic.
Those differences became more apparent after they moved in together in Seattle. Caitlin’s decision to go to the gym alone after making plans with Devin became another point of tension, prompting the couple to address their problems with expert Dr. Lisa Paz.
At the time, both appeared willing to work on their marriage. Devin acknowledged that his approach could be too aggressive, while Caitlin said she was gradually becoming more comfortable and lowering some of her emotional barriers.
The progress, however, did not last.
During group therapy, the experts questioned whether Devin was changing himself too much to accommodate Caitlin. Later, Caitlin began opening up more about her past, but Devin unexpectedly told her during a group dinner that he did not feel a strong connection between them.
Their relationship improved somewhat after Caitlin became more vulnerable, but the underlying differences remained.
By the couples’ retreat, the unresolved issues surrounding trust, intimacy and communication had become too difficult to overcome.
For now, Caitlin and Devin appear to have moved on separately. Their full post-show story, however, will be addressed when the Married at First Sight Season 20 reunion airs on August 27.
Married at First Sight Season 20 airs Thursdays on Peacock.
