While The Black Dagger Brotherhood Season 2 is still months away from its debut, author J.R. Ward is already looking ahead. The bestselling writer has hinted that Season 3 is on the horizon, teasing an emotional adaptation of one of the franchise’s most beloved love stories.
Although Passionflix has yet to officially renew The Black Dagger Brotherhood for a third season, fans have little reason to worry. J.R. Ward recently sparked excitement by sharing new details about what lies ahead, strongly suggesting that another chapter of the vampire romance series is already in the works.

In an Instagram video posted on July 30, Ward described the upcoming season as one of the most emotionally demanding stories in the franchise.
“Season 3 is gonna be a gauntlet to get through, but it is going to be amazing,” she said.
The author also praised the creative team behind the adaptation, revealing in a separate social media post that Season 2 lays the groundwork perfectly for what comes next.
“I already can’t wait to see it.”
If the series continues following the order of Ward’s bestselling novels, Season 3 will adapt Lover Awakened, widely considered one of the most popular books in the Black Dagger Brotherhood saga.
The new season is expected to shift its focus to Bella and Zsadist. Bella, a vampire introduced in Season 2, forms an immediate connection with Zsadist, the Brotherhood’s most feared warrior and a former blood slave haunted by years of physical and emotional trauma.

Their relationship takes a dramatic turn after Bella is kidnapped by a lesser, forcing Zsadist to confront his painful past while risking everything to save her. Throughout the story, he struggles to believe he deserves love, repeatedly pushing Bella away despite their undeniable bond. As in many of Ward’s novels, the romance is filled with heartbreak, sacrifice, and ultimately, hope.
While no official casting announcement has been made, Mariah Davis and Andrew Biernat are expected to lead the third season as Bella and Zsadist. Other returning cast members would likely include Robert Maaser as Wrath, Alexander Cubis as Rhage, Joel Cederberg as Tohr, Sia Zami as Vishous, Zack Ignoffo as Phury, Olivia Applegate as Beth, Audrey Hare as Mary, Jon Haslam as Mr. O, and Bobby Hogan as John Matthew.
New characters from Lover Awakened, including Rehvenge and Wellsie, are also expected to make their debut if the adaptation moves forward.
An official premiere date has not yet been announced, but based on the release pattern of previous installments, fans could expect Season 3 to arrive sometime in 2027. Season 1 premiered in June 2025, while Season 2 is scheduled to debut in fall 2026.

Until Passionflix confirms the renewal, Ward’s latest comments have given fans every reason to believe that Bella and Zsadist’s unforgettable love story will soon make its way to the screen.
