As All American enters the final stretch of its eighth and final season, the cast is already imagining what other stories could emerge from the show’s universe.
The long-running CW drama is preparing to say goodbye to both its original characters and the newer generation, but several cast members believe there is still plenty of room to explore new corners of the All American world.
From a prequel centered on Billy Baker’s early years to a legal drama following Coop’s career as a lawyer, the actors have plenty of ideas for where the franchise could go next.
Executive producer Nkechi Okoro Caroll has also made it clear that the possibility of expanding the universe remains open — as long as any future story stays true to the themes that have defined All American from the beginning.

A Prequel About Billy Baker’s Early Years
One idea would take fans back long before Spencer James made the move from Crenshaw to Beverly.
Nathaniel Logan McIntyre, who plays KJ, would like to see a prequel centered on Billy Baker, the beloved character played by Taye Diggs.
Billy became one of the defining figures of All American, but there is still much of his earlier life that remains unexplored. McIntyre suggested that a series following Billy during his high school years could offer a fresh perspective on the character.
The potential prequel could explore his upbringing in South Crenshaw, his development as a young football player and the experiences that shaped his complicated journey into professional football.
For McIntyre, returning to that period could allow the franchise to tell a new story while remaining connected to the world that longtime fans already know.
The Cast Wants More of Coop

A Coop-centered spinoff was one of the most popular ideas among the cast.
Kareem Grimes suggested following Coop and Preach as they continue building their lives, while also exploring Preach’s role as Amina’s guardian and his possible future in college football.
Sasha Lance, who joined the series in Season 7 as Coop’s love interest Breonna, also believes there is much more to discover about Coop.
She described the character as one of the most dynamic figures in the series and argued that, despite everything Coop has experienced, her story still has significant room to grow.
Bre-Z has a particularly clear vision for where she would like to see her character go next.
The actor wants a potential spinoff to focus on Coop’s legal career, showing what happens after she becomes a full-time lawyer working in South Crenshaw.
Rather than simply hearing about her work, Bre-Z wants to see Coop actively practicing law and spending more time in the courtroom alongside Breonna.
The idea could also build on the show’s previous legal storylines, with Bre-Z noting that she would have liked to see more courtroom-focused stories involving Laura as well.
Music, Community and the Future of the All American Universe

Other members of the cast have imagined entirely different directions for a future spinoff.
Greta Onieogou would like to follow Layla and Patience as they pursue their music careers in New York, opening up another side of the All American universe beyond football.
For Caroll, however, any future project would still need to reflect the foundation of the original series.
She explained that All American is ultimately rooted in young people pursuing athletic dreams and the challenges involved in reaching them. Family, community, love and sports have always been central to the franchise, and she believes there will continue to be stories worth telling within that world.
Not everyone, however, is eager to rush into another chapter.
Osy Ikhile praised the current season for giving the series something many television shows never receive: the opportunity to bring its story to a proper conclusion.
With All American able to tie up its remaining storylines and give its characters a planned ending, Ikhile believes there is value in appreciating that achievement rather than immediately trying to launch something new.
Sometimes, he suggested, an ending can be just as meaningful as a continuation.
As Season 8 brings the story toward its conclusion, the future of the All American universe remains uncertain. But if the cast’s ideas are anything to go by, there is no shortage of possibilities — whether that means revisiting Billy Baker’s past, following Coop into the courtroom or exploring a new generation chasing dreams in a world shaped by family, community and ambition.
All American airs Mondays at 8/7c on The CW.
