It’s no secret that Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek have an age gap in Bridgerton season four, but if you’re curious about how old they’re supposed to be, we did some math! Based on the pilot script, Benedict is 26 in Bridgerton season one. But to figure out how old he is in season four, we need to know how much time has elapsed in the show….
According to Screen Rant, the first season of Bridgerton takes place in Regency Era England, specifically in 1813. Season two takes place in 1814, season three takes place in 1815, and it seems like season four takes place about a year after that or so, in 1816. Therefore, if Benedict is 26 in 1813, he’s somewhere between 29 and 30 in 1816 – depending on when his birthday falls.
As for Sophie, she’s 22 in the books, but actor Yerin Ha is 28 in real life, while actor Luke Thompson is 37 in real life. So yeah, there’s a bit of an age difference, but it didn’t stop them from having major chemistry.
“We didn’t force anything,” Yerin told E! News. “We tried to let it happen and see what was going to grow organically. I’m a big believer in not forcing anything and trying to not make people feel something a certain way about me. It was just having to trust him, and you do have to surrender a little bit, and that is kind of scary. But I think immediately, as I met Luke, I was like, ‘Oh, I can let my walls down a little bit and just see what play happens.'”
Luke added “When we did our first scene together, it just felt like we’d been working together for a very long time. You just click and then you go on a little adventure together.”
