OUTLANDER fans know Brianna and Roger have vowed to raise Jemmy as their own. But who is the child’s real father?
Outlander season six sees the return of Brianna Fraser (played by Sophie Skelton) and her husband Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin). Viewers will follow them as they continue to raise Jemmy – but some fans are confused about if the child’s parentage was ever confirmed in the show. Book author Diana Gabaldon has cleared this up – here’s everything you need to know.
Who is Jemmy’s real father in Outlander?

Viewers will know how traumatic Brianna’s introduction to the past was when she first travelled through the stones.
Shortly after losing her virginity to Roger, she was raped by Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers) when she arrived in the 1700s.
The heartbreaking storyline has had heavy consequences for the young Fraser as she dealt with the trauma of this.
As well as this, she also soon found out she was pregnant but was unable to say who the real father was.
When Roger arrived at Fraser’s Ridge, he vowed to raise Jemmy as his own, regardless of his parentage.
However, some fans have since wondered if it is ever revealed who his biological father is.
This is cleared up in the book A Breath of Snow and Ashes – so if you do not want any spoilers, stop reading.
In the book, Jemmy’s head is shaved after he gets lice, revealing a unique birthmark on his scalp.
Outlander: Brianna was pregnant in the past
Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) confirms this is genetic, which leads Roger to shave his head as well.
He has the same birthmark on his head, confirming Jemmy is actually his biological son.
However, despite the clear connection, some fans were still left a bit confused by the moment.
Luckily, Gabaldon was there to clear the air in one of her Facebook posts in September 2019.
She was posting about her latest novel Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone when some fans asked about the moment.
In response to one fan, Gabaldon said: “Jemmy’s always thought Roger is his dad. Which he is.”
To another commenter she straight out confirmed the truth, adding: “Of course he’s his biological father.”
For fans of the series, it seems likely this storyline could be dealt with in season six.

This is because it has already been confirmed the new season will be based on the sixth book where the lice scene happens.
Filming has not yet begun on the show as it was put on hold due to the impact of coronavirus COVID-19.
However, the stars have teased this will hopefully begin in Scotland in early 2021.
