Richard Madeley has discussed his relationship with his daughter’s ex-husband as he revealed how Chloe Madeley and James Haskell are getting on a year after their split.
The couple issued a joint statement in October 2023 after speculation about the status of their marriage. They confirmed they were no longer in a romantic relationship after being wed for five years, saying that they had “mutually decided” to separate in September 2024.
They said at the time that their focus remained on their young daughter, Bodhi, and the pair were soon seen together during their first Christmas since they separated, as they joined Chloe’s family, including Richard and his wife Judy Finnigan at The Ritz.
Since then Chloe and James have been seen together with their two-year daughter Bodhi and now Richard has revealed they are holidaying together.
“Chloe is very happy, she and James are going to France together, they have a very happy uncoupling,” the Good Morning Britain host told The Sun. “It’s a very civilised relationship – we see a lot of James, he’s at the house quite a lot, either with Chloe or without,” Richard continued.
He revealed that he still goes for a drink with his ex-son-in-law from time to time, before adding: “It’s a very civilised divorce. The co-parenting is going really well.”
Chloe previously spoke about her parents’ support following her and James’ separation. Speaking to OK! magazine at the start of the year, the personal trainer said she “cried all day” when her statement announcing her separation from James was released and said that her parents – best known for having hosted This Morning together – didn’t leave her side.

“The day that the statement came out, James had Bodhi and I went round to my parent’s house and I just sat and cried all day,” she previously recalled. “They just gave me massive hugs and didn’t leave my side.”
Chloe, who said her and James’ relationship “just stopped being good”, added that her parents had been “incredible” about her separation and went on to share the approach that Richard and Judy have had to the situation, which it was suggested they have applied to other experiences in her life.
She said: “My mum and dad’s title line is, ‘As long as you’re happy, we support you.’ So they’re fine.” Chloe continued: “Everyone is very adult about it. No one has any interest in any family drama. I’m so grateful to have parents like that.”
