Outlander is returning one last time with season eight now officially on its way.

Outlander season eight is fast approaching, but it’s not always been smooth sailing for the cast off-camera.
With just a few months to go before the last instalment of the renowned Scottish romantic drama commences, once again centred around the Fraser family, anticipation is building.
Lauren Lyle and Cesar Domboy, who portray Marsali and Fergus respectively, are set to return for the concluding episodes of Outlander, having last appeared in series six.
In the lead-up to the grand premiere of season eight, actress Lyle resumed her popular podcast She’s A Rec this week, featuring Outlander stalwart Caitriona Balfe as a guest.
Lyle took the opportunity to highlight Balfe’s kindness behind the scenes, having portrayed Claire Fraser for an impressive 12 years, before recalling a less harmonious incident.
Outlander’s Fergus and Marsali stars Cesar Domboy and Lauren Lyle were initially told they weren’t allowed to kiss.
Outlander’s Claire Fraser is portrayed by actress Caitriona Balfe.
Lyle started: “I always found you very commanding on set, in a very respectful way.
“Everyday you would always thank everyone for being there and say goodbye and good night to everyone, every time without fail.
“And you’d only flip out on something that meant something, never flip out over dumb s***.
“It would always be in support of someone, I remember you flipping out over something for me and Cesar [Domboy].
“We weren’t allowed to kiss and Caitriona [Balfe] and Sam [Heughan] do a lot of kissing on the show and me and Cesar, who plays Fergus, were told we weren’t allowed to kiss.”
Balfe went on to explain: “What I think what you was told, people didn’t do that in that time in public and we were like ‘pretty sure we’ve done that and more.'”
Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe and Lauren Lyle in 2020.
Lyle responded: “Cesar definitely kicked off as well and then eventually I think it was like ‘Fair enough. On you go.'”
Marsali and Fergus had departed Fraser’s Ridge in season six to begin afresh in another town, where he was set to run a print shop.
In Diana Gabaldon’s novels, the couple don’t make a return, meaning the television adaptation is now diverging from the source material.
However, what could explain Marsali and Fergus’ surprising comeback, and how might their arrival influence the remaining episodes?
