Prince Harry’s main problem is that he lacks an understanding of King Charles’s character, according to royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith. The Duke of Sussex, 40, recently revealed that his father is no longer on speaking terms with him during a bombshell interview with BBC.
The pair have been at loggerheads for some time, with the relations between the Harry and the royals are said to have become tense following his highly controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. As reported by The Times, Sally revealed what she believes is Harry’s main problem.
She told the publication: “It shows a lack of insight on Harry’s part because Charles is an empathetic person. If Harry can’t understand his father to that degree, there’s a problem.”
Although relations have been tense for some time, the King and his youngest son have reportedly not seen each other for more than 15 months.
As well as his strained relationship wtih his father, the relationship between Harry and and his brother Prince William is said to be beyond repair.
Speaking in his BBC interview, which aired earlier this month, Harry admitted: “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious.”
He admitted that his father won’t speak to him due to the “security stuff”, with the Duke of Sussex recently losing his appeal to reinstate his security when visiting the UK.

Speaking of the court case, he told interviewer Nada Tawfik: “I’m devastated – not so much as devastated with the loss that I am about the people behind the decision, feeling as though this is okay. Is it a win for them?
“I’m sure there are some people out there, probably most likely the people that wish me harm, [who] consider this a huge win.”
The Times, in an article by Laura Pullman, declared that the relationship between the King and Harry is “seemingly irretrievably damaged”.
