The Duchess of Sussex once addressed how she felt blamed for Prince Harry quitting royal life.

Meghan Markle’s admission that she was given the “blame” for Prince Harry leaving the Royal Family in 2020 has resurfaced on TikTok this week. The clip, taken from the 2022 Netflix docuseries, shows Meghan, 43, talking about how she shouldered a lot of the blame when it came to why her husband Harry, 40, quit royal life.
While Harry has always insisted it was his own choice and something he considered before marrying Meghan in 2018, Meghan said in the docuseries that she felt that people were “angry” with her. She made the comments in episode five of the series, which focused on the couple packing up their lives in the UK to relocate to America.
She said: “In any relationship, oftentimes, when a guy falls in love with a girl, his buddies are like ‘Oh my God, he changed I don’t see him anymore. He’s always with her.’ And you blame the girl. They’re angry with her, because she’s the thing that took him away.”
Meghan continued: “And that’s whether you’re in a small town or a big city or in the royal family. He wouldn’t ever have been attracted to or interested in me if he hadn’t already been on his own path.

“Most people need to find someone to blame to try to, like, reconcile how you’re feeling because something’s changed and it doesn’t feel good and you don’t like it and what’s the thing that’s different. ‘Well, it all changed when you got here. So it’s your fault.’
“But you blame me… because also if you can blame me then you have no fault. So that last week, it was bitter sweet.”
The duchess also recalled how she felt that the public must have hated her at the time, but instead she felt they were “embracing” the couple. She said: “They were sad that we were leaving. We were sad that we were leaving.”

Prince Harry has never blamed his wife for the couple’s decision to leave the UK.
Instead he has said that he made the decision as he did not want the same thing that happened to his mother Princess Diana, who was constantly hounded by paparazzi, to happen to his wife.
In Spare, Harry said the couple left the UK “in fear of our sanity and physical safety”.
Harry said the couple left the UK for both of them.
