The Beckham’s youngest child wants to build her own make-up brand

As the only daughter of two of the most famous people in the world, both of whom are now stars of their own Netflix documentaries, Harper Seven Beckham was never set up for an ordinary life.

When she was born in Los Angeles in 2011, it made headline news around the world. After three sons, David and Victoria Beckham finally welcomed a daughter. Ever since then, Harper has grown up in the spotlight and in recent years she has emerged on her parents’ social media pages, featured in their respective documentaries and sat FROW at fashion weeks around the world. In other words, she might be young, but she is one to watch.

How old is Harper Beckham?

Harper was born on 10 July 2011 and is 14 years old. She is David and Victoria’s fourth child and the younger sibling of Brooklyn Beckham, Romeo Beckham and Cruz Beckham.

What is the story behind Harper Seven’s name?

It might surprise you to discover that Harper is named after Harper Lee, the author of To Kill A Mocking Bird. ‘Victoria’s favourite book is To Kill A Mockingbird,’ David explained shortly after she was born, ‘it’s a very strong, passionate book and the author was Harper Lee, and that is where Harper came from.’

He added that while most people had assumed the name Seven was a reference to his shirt number at Manchester United, that was only part of the reason. ‘The main reason behind Seven was it symbolises spiritual perfection – the seven wonders of the world, the seven colours of the rainbow – and in many cultures it is a lucky number. We love the name and we love Harper Seven. We are very happy to have her in our lives and in our family, and it is an amazing time for our family right now.’

She’s not, as some have hypothesised, named after Harper’s Bazaar. However, there is a sweet moment at the end of the VB doc where Harper sees a branded backing board at the Harper’s Bazaar Awards and thought it was because of her.

What have David and Victoria Beckham said about Harper Beckham?

David and Victoria have always been gushing about their youngest child. When Harper was born, David told Access Hollywood: ‘She’s got three brothers that will take care of her, three brothers that will eat with her and three brothers that will bring her back home and a dad waiting for her. So yeah, we’ll see. That’ll be interesting.’

Two years later, David told _The Su_n: ‘She’s not going out. She’s going to be like Rapunzel – up in the tower.’ And it seems his protective nature has never wavered. The former England player recently shared an Instagram Story of a salad he made for Harper’s school snack where he fashioned a tomato into a heart shape. ‘I made this salad for Harper’s school snack today. Hope she doesn’t find the [heart] embarrassing now she is 14,’ he joked.

‘I have no power with that little girl,’ he once said, ‘no power whatsoever. I love all my children, of course – equally – but I’m definitely stricter with the boys than I am with Harper.’

‘I can’t say no to her,’ he added. ‘I think I only said no to her once; her bottom lip started shivering and I was like: “Never again.” She’s amazing. She’s a princess with Victoria – obviously she’s a big mummy’s girl – but she’s also a big daddy’s girl, which I love. I think she’s the best.’

Of course, Victoria is just as loving and protective of their daughter. When Harper was born, Victoria described her as ‘the most beautiful baby girl I’ve ever seen’ who helped her ‘fall in love all over again’.

In her recent Netflix documentary she said, ‘She’s a little mini-me – she’s very similar to me. She’s a good girl. She’s incredibly funny – she’s got a very dry sense of humour.’ She’s also previously described Harper as a ‘tomboy’ but says ‘she has every skincare product under the sun’.

What does Harper Beckham want to do when she’s older?

Anyone who follows Victoria on social media will have noticed Harper entering the fold – particularly as a face of the Victoria Beckham make-up brand. Last October, she admitted that she wants to ‘create an amazing brand when I’m older’.

Victoria offered her full support saying, ‘Harper Seven following in Mummy’s footsteps and putting her hopes and dreams out there.’

Does Harper Beckham have social media?

Yes, but it is not public and is under a different name. While there are plenty of fan accounts for Harper, Victoria has confirmed there are ‘boundaries’ in place and ‘Harper’s Instagram account is private’.
