This Morning presenter Alison Hammond was left red-faced during the opening minutes of the ITV show
Alison Hammond found herself in a bit of a pickle during the opening moments of This Morning. On the bank holiday Monday episode, ITV viewers saw the presenter joined by Paddy McGuinness.
Starting off the show, she announced: “Hello and welcome to your Fridays- Oh no, it’s not! It’s not Friday. I’ve messed it up again. Start the music again, do it again!” Paddy reassured her: “It’s alright, it’s not live, it’s not live.” The duo shared a laugh over Alison’s slip-up before she corrected herself, reports The Mirror.
The ITV star apologised: “I’m so sorry I got all confused! I thought you were Dermot O’Leary for a minute!” Paddy playfully warned: “Don’t ever do that, don’t ever do that.”
Despite the initial confusion, the atmosphere remained light-hearted as Alison assured him she was only joking. As Paddy was welcomed onto the show, he took a moment to compliment his co-star, remarking that she smelt ‘incredible’.
Grateful for the compliment, Alison quickly pointed out how similar his current appearance was to his last visit on the programme. A picture of Paddy from his previous stint on the show was displayed next to his current image as Alison queried: “Are you wearing the same outfit?! Are you wearing the same clothes?”
Paddy responded: “That’s actually hilarious, the reason being about two years ago when I hosted this, they didn’t let me home. Dermot keeps me in his dressing room! Just throws me a few scraps of food now and again, then shuts the door.”
Alison chuckled at his comment before expressing her gratitude for him joining her as a co-host for the bank holiday episode. He expressed his gratitude and disbelief, saying: “Thank you for asking me. I can’t believe I’m here.
“I’m a big fan of the show and whenever they ask me back, I’m in disbelief.” She warmly responded: “We are honoured to have your presence, we are absolutely honoured Paddy.” This Morning experienced a shake-up in its presenting lineup on Monday, but it wasn’t the only ITV programme to do so.
On Good Morning Britain, regular hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley were replaced by Ranvir Singh and Robert Rinder. In a similar vein, Andi Peters filled in for Lorraine Kelly, who was away from her eponymous morning show.
