Scots TV hunk strips down to boxers on set of ‘sexy’ series sending fans wild
The six-part thriller is about a couple who develop a fast friendship with their new neighbours when they move to an idyllic suburb
TV STAR Sam Heughan has sent fans wild after throwback snaps show him stripping down to his boxers on the set of a “sexy” TV series.
The telly hunk, 44, turned heads in the social media pics as he posed with the cast of Starz’s The Couple Next Door.
The Dumfries-shire-born star is best nown for playing hunky 18th-century Highlander Jamie Fraser in the hit series Outlander.
But he also stars in the psychological drama, which first aired in the UK on Channel 4 back in 2023.
The six-part thriller is about a couple who develop a fast friendship with their new neighbours when they move to an idyllic Leeds suburb.
However, the show soon takes some unexpected and sinister turns – with armed gangs, swinging sexual encounters and suspected major drug dealing all thrown into the mix.
Sam takes on the gritty role of one of the neighbours and a devilishly handsome motorcycle cop called Danny.
Despite the series’ first airing on Channel 4 in November 2023, Starz began showing it this year with the season finale airing on Friday last week.
As a result, the American network shared old throwback snaps from the cast on the set on their social media channels.
The pictures, posted on Instagram, show Sam cosying up with fellow co-star Eleanor Tomlinson who plays Evie on the show.
The pair were seen beaming as they sat on a small sofa inside a trailer in one snap, while they dressed in bathrobes and held prosecco glasses in another.
Other snaps show Sam smiling with Jessica De Gouw, who plays Becka, in some other behind-the-scene group pics.
But one photo in particular sent fans into a frenzy as it showed Sam hanging out in an outdoor bar and snack area in his boxers.
Sam had his abs on display as he beamed in the snap with both Jessica and Eleanor who were wearing matching blue silk nightdresses.
The post was captioned: “When the plans make it out of the group chat.”
Fans quickly flocked to the comments as they gushed over Sam and praised the team for their incredible show.
NEW VOICE
FOR The Couple Next Door, Sam had to put on a Yorkshire accent as he wasn’t allowed to keep his won Scottish twang.
Speaking at a press junket, ahead of its release, the actor admitted his character’s accent was the most challenging part of the role, rather than the sex scenes or speeding the streets on a motorbike.
He said: “For me, the accent was a new one.
“I was doing a northern or Leeds accent, but we were filming in Belgium and the Netherlands mostly, so you have a lot of very different accents in your ear. For me, that was quite challenging.”
But, he got through it because of the team around him.
He added: “We worked very closely so every day we’d sit down and work through the scenes and overcome the challenges, but that’s why we enjoyed it so much, it felt very collaborative.”
Outwith Starz series Outlander, Sam has most recently got a few movies under his belt.
This includes starring in this year’s Love Me Again opposite Hollywood actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas and singing diva Celine Dion, as well The Spy Who Dumped Me and Bloodshot.
One person said: “Yummy Sam!!”
Another added: “Oh my” with a string of heart eyes emojis.
Someone else wrote: “I loved the series. Sexy. Intense. Naughty. Fun. Unpredictable.
“Actors had incredible chemistry. Did I say sexy? Sam the man with the gorgeous body we can’t get enough of.”
