Sam Heughan has lined up his next TV role ahead of Outlander‘s final season. The fantasy series, based on the Diana Gabaldon novels, has been on the air since 2014 and was Heughan’s breakout role in the entertainment industry. Outlander season 8, which premieres in March, will serve as a farewell for fan-favorite characters Jamie Fraser (Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitríona Balfe).

The fantasy show may be ending, but Heughan’s career is far from over, as he has just been cast in the six-episode TV thriller Embassy, where he’ll star alongside Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons.

In Embassy, Kendrick will star as a diplomat named Layla, who’s forced to make difficult decisions after London’s U.S. embassy comes under attack. Simmons is playing the U.S. ambassador, with Heughan signing on as Connor Wright, Layla’s ex-fiancé and a British soldier. Before extracting a high-value asset, Layla relies on Connor for help, despite her strong reluctance to do so.

Rom Lotan created Embassy and will serve as an executive producer with John Strickland, Hester Ruoff, Bart Ruspoli, Matt Mitchell, Daniel Hetzer, Jakob Neuhausser, Justin Thomson, David Tanner, Stuart Ford, Lourdes Diaz, and Miguel A. Palos Jr. Aside from being the creator and executive producer, Lotan is also the writer on Embassy, with Christian Alvart and Strickland on board as directors.

Embassy does not have a network or streaming home at the moment, but filming for the series will get underway in London, England, and Cologne, Germany, in February.
