‘Outlander’ Fans Must See Sam Heughan’s Sweet Career Update on Instagram

Sam Heughan is back in books—and for an incredible cause.
It’s been over a year since the Outlander star published his last book, The Cocktail Diaries: A Spirited Adventure. He’s also published other memoirs, like Clanlands and Waypoints.
But now Sam is stepping into children’s literature, as he revealed in a sweet Instagram video on June 15. Working alongside the U.K. non-profit organization Living Paintings, whose mission is to bring books to children who are either blind or have visual impairments, Sam will record the audiobook for the picture book Jonty Gentoo: The Adventures of a Penguin by Julia Donaldson.
The actor expressed his excitement about helping kids get the most out of reading.
“Hi there. I’m Sam Heughan,” he began the clip. “I’m in the studio with the amazing U.K. charity, Living Paintings, who make these incredible audio tactile picture books for blind and visually impaired children. I’m currently recording Jonty Gentoo, the adventures of a penguin who loves to swim in cold water— much like myself. And my favorite character, apart from Jonty, of course, is the polar bear. I can’t wait for you guys to take a listen and read the book.”
If that wasn’t enough, Sam further emphasized his love for the project in the comments.
“Love the book and ethos behind it! ,” he added.
