The Jamie Fraser star paid tribute to the hit show
Outlander actor Sam Heughan has opened up about the final season of the hit Starz drama, leaving fans in tears, after the premiere date was announced and as fans speculate about the mystery voice in the teaser.
Taking to Instagram, the Jamie Fraser star penned a touching tribute to the programme, which propelled him into the spotlight and sealed his star status.
Alongside a poster for Outlander season eight, Heughan wrote: “Every story comes to an end…

“Thanks ultimately to herself @diana_gabaldon and of course, the fans.
“Are you ready for the final season @outlander_starz?!!”
Many Outlander fans quickly took to the comments section to share their heartbreak over the end of the long-running historical show.
Executive producer Maril Davis simply posted a series of crying and heart emojis in response to the post.
While one fan wrote: “Je suis prest? No, I am not ready. But thank you Sam, for making Jamie Fraser a real King of Men.”
A second commented: “Thank YOU Sam. Your portrayal of Jamie was a gift! Ready, and not ready, to see the final Outlander chapter come to a close. Celebrations will be had with friends though, honouring this final chapter, with those same friends that I wouldn’t have met if it wasn’t for Outlander forever grateful!!”

In response to her post, the official Starz account said: “simply can’t stress the amount of tears we have right now.”
While one fan said: “It’s almost impossible to put into words what this show has meant. Outlander has been more than a story, it’s been a home, a journey and a heartbeat for so many of us. Thank you, Caitríona, for giving Claire such depth, strength, and soul. March 6th will be beautiful and heartbreaking all at once. Here’s to the end of an era, and to a story that will never really end. We love you Caitríona!”
Another added: “Thank you for everything Caitriona. You are and always will be our perfect Claire. Outlander will always be part of my life. We love you.”
Balfe and Heughan’s posted come after Starz dropped the key art from the final season of Outlander, featuring lead couple Jamie and Claire Fraser in a sweet embrace with the standing stones upside down behind them. The tagline was: “Past. Present. Forever.”
Claire’s wedding ring from Jamie was very prominently seen in the poster, contrasting heavily with Frank Randall’s (Tobias Menzies) wedding ring as he reached out for her hand in the posters from season one.
The announcement also confirmed the show’s long-awaited premiere date on March 6, 2026 after Starz previously dropped a teaser and said the show would be hitting screens in early 2026.
