CIA is back for Season 2, and the CBS drama is returning with a much larger episode order than its first season. The FBI spinoff premiered its second season on Oct. 5, bringing Tom Ellis and Nick Gehlfuss back as CIA case officer Colin Glass and FBI Special Agent Bill Goodman.
Unlike Season 1, which consisted of 12 episodes, Season 2 is planned to run for 22 episodes. The expanded order gives the series considerably more room to develop its characters while continuing the high-stakes cases at the center of the CIA-FBI task force. Paramount+ also confirmed that the new season will release weekly.

The schedule began with the Season 2 premiere, “The Deep,” on Monday, Oct. 5. New episodes are scheduled to air every Monday at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. Paramount+ Premium subscribers can watch the episodes live, while Paramount+ Essential subscribers can stream them on demand the following day.
The first episodes of the season are already mapped out. “The Deep” launched the new season on Oct. 5, followed by “Dead Drop” on Oct. 12 and “Radio Active” on Oct. 19. The fourth episode, “Black Tie Optional,” is scheduled for Oct. 26.

Season 2 picks up after an eventful first season for both leads. Colin is dealing with the return of Toni Napier, his former partner whom he believed was dead, while Bill has chosen to remain with the joint task force instead of pursuing the FBI career path he had once wanted. The new season is expected to put further pressure on both men, particularly Bill as events from his personal life begin affecting the way he approaches his work.
The premiere also strengthens the show’s connection to its parent series. John Boyd returns as FBI Special Agent Stuart Scola, appearing in the Season 2 opener as the team investigates a case involving a cartel fixer and the death of a DEA agent. The case quickly becomes more complicated than it initially appears.
Beyond Ellis and Gehlfuss, the returning cast includes Necar Zadegan as Deputy Chief of Station Nikki Reynard and Natalee Linez as CIA analyst Gina Gosian. Angela Sarafyan is also expected to continue appearing as Toni in a recurring role.
The larger episode order could also allow CIA to explore more of the uneasy partnership between Colin and Bill. Their contrasting approaches remain one of the show’s central dynamics: Colin relies on unconventional methods and years of experience in the intelligence world, while Bill brings a more structured FBI approach to their joint investigations.
For now, viewers can expect CIA Season 2 to remain on its Monday-night schedule throughout the fall, with additional episodes continuing into the 2026-27 television season. With 22 episodes planned, the series has significantly more time to develop its latest cases, character conflicts and connections to the wider FBI universe.
