Did Faith live in Outlander? Season 8 twist explained
Outlander audiences have been left confused about the Faith Fraser twist in season eight
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Outlander season 8, episode 1
Outlander season eight has left fans divided since its recent return to screens.
The new run marks the last-ever outing for the Starz historical drama series, which has been on screens for over a decade.
Outlander has been adapted from the best-selling novels by American author Diana Gabaldon; however, the TV show is known for diverging from the source material.
However, season seven marked the biggest departure from the books when it appeared that Jamie (played by Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser’s (Caitríona Balfe) first child, Faith Fraser, had somehow survived, despite being stillborn back in season two.
Here’s a look at what happened to Faith in the TV show after the season eight opener continued to explore this twist.

Did Faith live in Outlander?
Yes, is the short answer. The show opens with Jamie and Claire interrogating a pirate and a smuggler about the Pocock family.
In the scene, it’s suggested that the couple did some digging in between seasons seven and eight to find this man, with the help of brothel madam Mrs Abbott.
Mrs Abbott ran the establishment where Francis ‘Fanny’ Pocock (Florrie May Wilkinson) and her older sister Jane Pocock (Silvia Presente) lived when they arrived in America.
The pirate reveals that Faith, her husband, Captain Pocock, and their daughters were on board the ship bound for the New World when he took over.
The smuggler killed Captain Pocock and raped Jane, while Faith was thrown overboard after she tried to protect her family.
These events happened when Fanny was only five, so several years before the events of Outlander season eight.

Jamie and Claire then kill the smuggler, with the 20th-century time traveller regretting not making him suffer more.
However, it confirms that Faith did somehow survive in France thanks to Master Raymond’s (Dominique Pinon) magic and lived out her life.
Claire and Jamie later wonder why Master Raymond didn’t bring their child back to them.
Claire reasons that the king exiled Master Raymond from France, and it wasn’t safe for him, hence why he had to take Faith away with him and couldn’t return.
This means that Fanny is definitely their grandchild, even if they never met Faith.
