BBC weather presenter’s wardrobe malfunction leaves Six O’Clock News viewers stunned
Viewers were left distracted by the presenter’s dress.
During the BBC Six O’Clock News weather report, presenter Lizzie Rizzini’s outfit sparked viewers’ attention after an unintended wardrobe moment. Whilst delivering the forecast, the weather presenter’s stylish denim dress with a zip going up the middle became the topic of conversation amongst viewers after the slit at the bottom of her dress exposed the top of her stockings.
They added they’d never witnessed “stocking tops on the BBC before”. However, some viewers questioned whether it was actually the top of a stocking at all, as one remarked: “Sorry to rain on your parade, but suspect they are cycling shorts or thermals.”
Another viewer proposed it might have been a black band securing her microphone. For one fan, the unexpected moment lifted their mood as they wrote: “There is life after Carol Kirkwood.“
Carol, who has been delivering weather forecasts for BBC Breakfast since 1998, revealed earlier this year that she would be reducing her appearances on the programme, the Mirror reports. She revealed on the programme: “So, I’m going to be leaving – and it’s really hard, really hard for me to say this because I love my job
“I love all of you guys and my weather colleagues and, of course, all the viewers.”
Carol went on to clarify that she was stepping back to spend more time with her husband.
In a subsequent statement posted on social media, she wrote: “It’s been an absolute privilege to bring you the weather every day. My job is something I’ve never taken for granted, and I’ve loved every minute!”.
“From early starts and all manner of forecasts, I’ve shared it with incredible colleagues at BBC Breakfast, BBC Weather and programmes across the BBC. I’d like to thank them for their support and friendship, which has meant the world.
“And to those watching and listening at home – thank you for all the kindness you have shown me over the years, being part of your mornings has been a joy.
“This hasn’t been an easy decision to make, but it feels like the right moment to step away. I’ll carry with me the most wonderful memories.”
The BBC issued their own statement: “Carol’s contribution to BBC News and BBC Weather has been exceptional.
“From major national moments to the everyday forecasts that are such an important part of our audiences’ lives, she has set the gold standard for our accurate, valued journalism – always delivered with an appropriately sunny outlook.
“She will be greatly missed by teams across the BBC. We wish her all the best for the future,” they added.
Carol is set to officially depart the BBC at the end of April. Her replacement has not been confirmed as of yet.
