After three seasons of Lioness, Zoe Saldaña is drawing a line under her involvement in Taylor Sheridan’s expanding television universe — at least for now.
The actor, who stars as CIA operative Joe McNamara and also serves as an executive producer on the Paramount+ thriller, said she has no plans to take on another project from the prolific Yellowstone creator.
“I think that Joe McNamara and Lioness is all that I can handle at this time,” the 48-year-old told People.
‘I Can’t Imagine Me Taking on More of a Taylor Sheridan World’
Saldaña explained that her responsibilities on Lioness extend far beyond appearing in front of the camera.
As the show’s lead and an executive producer, she is heavily involved in the production process from the earliest stages.
“I’m number one on the call sheet,” she said. “I am first one in, last one out. I am prepping months before anybody ever is able to prep. So it’s already a lot of work for me.”
That workload has made the prospect of joining another Sheridan series difficult to imagine.
“I can’t imagine me taking on more of a Taylor Sheridan world,” Saldaña said.
She also suggested that her experience on Lioness has demonstrated to Sheridan that she can be relied upon when taking on a demanding role.
“I have my views, and I come with all heart, all brains, all muscle at all times,” she said. “So, no, I think I’m good here at Lioness.”
For now, Joe McNamara appears to be the Sheridan character Saldaña is most interested in continuing to develop.
Saldaña Embraces the Challenge of ‘Lioness’

Saldaña has previously spoken positively about the demands of working with Sheridan, particularly his detailed approach to writing.
Ahead of Season 3, she praised the creator’s interest in government affairs and the research that informs his scripts.
“He’s very curious about government affairs, and he seeks out information and education based on that curiosity,” Saldaña said, adding that his shows can be highly detailed while also providing viewers with insight into their subject matter.
She acknowledged that working on Sheridan’s scripts can be challenging because of the expectations they place on the cast.
“Working with him is a challenge in the sense that he does raise the bar,” she said. “And you have one of two choices. You either accept the challenge and make sure that you don’t f*** up… or you quit.”
Saldaña made it clear which option she prefers.
“And I like being challenged. I really do,” she added.

Zoe Saldaña’s Focus Remains on ‘Lioness’
In Lioness, Saldaña plays Joe McNamara, a CIA operative who leads a highly classified team of female special operators recruited from different branches of the military.
The team’s missions involve infiltrating terrorist organizations by developing relationships with the wives and daughters of targeted individuals.
The series also stars Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman.

While Sheridan has continued expanding his television universe with multiple shows, Saldaña appears content to concentrate on the world of Lioness rather than adding another Sheridan production to her schedule.
Her comments come as her co-star Michael Kelly moves in the opposite direction. Kelly, who plays Byron Westfield in Lioness, has recently been announced as a cast member for Season 3 of Sheridan’s Landman, which began filming earlier this month.
For Saldaña, however, the focus remains on Joe McNamara and the series she has already committed so much time to.
