“The Last of Us” fans can expect another dose of heartbreak, nostalgia and their favorite father-daughter duo in this week’s episode.
The penultimate episode of HBO’s apocalypse drama series will see the return of Pedro Pascal in a flashback story that takes place before Joel Miller’s tragic and brutal death in Episode 2.
The end of last week’s episode hinted at a return to the past, showcasing events that take place between the first and second season. HBO shared images from the episode, promising viewers that they’ll see Joel and Ellie together on their TV screens this weekend.
“Would you like to go to space?” the show’s official X account wrote with a picture of Pascal as Joel holding a cassette tape teasing what’s to come.

Will there be a ‘The Last of Us’ Season 3?
Yes. Ahead of Season 2’s premiere, HBO announced “The Last of Us” would be returning for a third season.
However, it is unclear if Season 3 will be the show’s final season. Deadline reported that co-creators Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin said they were previously contemplating making up to four seasons.
