June Osborne (played by Elisabeth Moss) has committed some serious crimes whilst in Gilead but all for good reasons, with her most recent was shooting a guard to death after successfully getting most of the children over the border to Canada. However, earlier in season three of The Handmaid’s Tale was a claustrophobic episode in which June was trapped in the hospital and the star has now spoken out about what had to be cut over the intense few days of filming due to keeping in line with the story.
In an episode named ‘Heroic’, June opens the show singing Belinda Carlisle’s ‘Heaven is a place on Earth’ as she is trapped in a hospital room.
The day before, after finding out she was pregnant, June’s walking partner Ofmatthew, (Ashleigh LaThrop), who had always been ‘by-the-book’ took a gun and pointed it at the Gilead guards.
June had been in her ear before the incident, but when she found out she was having her commander’s baby, all hell broke lose.
She was shot in the chest by a guard and carted off to the hospital, but because of June’s relationship with Natalie, she was obliged to be there at all times to be a support vessel.

June was made to kneel on the floor at all times, but as the episode went on and the time continued to pass, it started messing with the handmaid’s mental state and she took a turn for the worst.
The actor has now opened up about these claustrophobic scenes and what they had to cut out.
In a conversation with TV Line, Elisabeth told the host: “It’s luck of the draw what locations you are given.
“There was a whole series of flashbacks that we didn’t use.
“For no other reason than to keep it truly and claustrophobically inside that room.”

But this sets fans of the show’s minds reeling with the possibility of what these flashbacks could have included.
Her time with Hannah before Gilead? Her time with baby Nichole before she managed to get her out?
She added: “It was really fun and it was really special because obviously you shoot everything out of order so tracking her arc through the episode was interesting if a little uncomfortable.
“We were able to shoot more in order than usual because it was all one set.
“But it really pushed a lot visually and took it into a slightly different style to the show.”
The tables turned at the end of season three though as June was shot by one of the Gilead guards after successfully getting 52 children out and over the border to Canada where Gilead had no power.
It’s currently unknown how she will survive, but in the new trailer, it shows there will be a lot of people waiting for her once she does.
With 52 children gone – and 52 handmaid’s now allies of June – there will be hell to pay.
Later in the interview, she revealed: “I love the idea that she is public enemy number one and I think it is that blind bravery that keeps her alive in many ways.
“I loved the idea that she gets to this place as this messiah and that the one that has to die is her.”
It all depends on whether the war that is about to start in Gilead is to be headed up by June or against June.
June may never be able to escape Gilead taking her daughter Hannah back home with her, but she has been able to get this far, who’s to say she won’t destroy Gilead single-handedly?
